  • Patent number: 4573294
Abstract: A framework for use in constructing a building that is capable of rapid assembly and disassembly is disclosed. The framework includes a plurality of spaced column members joined at their upper ends by beam members, the joinder being effected by means of aligned pin receiving means on the column and beam secured with a pin. Means are provided within the framework to receive, without the need for fasteners, wall panel members and roof panel members.

  • Patent number: 4413707
Abstract: A chain supported scaffolding arrangement for use inside of a building or vessel or in working under a bridge. Chain gripping plates engage the chain and support hollow tubular vertical posts which have a plurality of receptacles connected thereto. The chain engaging plates have a recess formed therein for receiving and positioning the vertical posts. Horizontal members engage the receptacles and extend between the vertical posts which are supported from the chains. The horizontal members are connected to the vertical posts by connectors which prevent movement about their connection axes so that when the various horizontal and vertical members are interconnected, a relatively stiff structure, which is chain supported, is provided.

  • Patent number: 4156996
Abstract: Scaffolding apparatus requiring no cross bracing and having adjustable outriggers for facilitating work on a contoured surface. The disclosed scaffolding arrangement defines a plurality of horizontal levels which are spaced apart from the contoured surface. The horizontal levels are formed from horizontally disposed structural members which are supported solely from the vertical columns. No cross bracing is required between the horizontal levels of the scaffolding. Except for the vertical support columns, the horizontal levels or work areas are open. The open work areas permit easy movement of men, material and equipment. Outriggers which are adjustable in length are provided between the fixed horizontal work platforms and the contoured surface. These adjustable outriggers can be extended outward into close proximity with the contoured surface. Thus the horizontal work platform can be extended as close as desired to the contoured surface.

  • Patent number: 4125174
Abstract: Scaffolding, for working in an area having relatively close spaced sidewalls, comprising generally T-shaped stackable members wherein the top of the T is adjustable outward to contact the sidewalls and limit sideway scaffolding movement. The T-shaped members can be stacked vertically, one atop the other, to provide different heights. A work platform, or staging, extends between the top of the uppermost T-shaped section and the top of a similar height spaced apart T-shaped section. Horizontal supports or stabilizers extend between the vertical columns which are built up from the T-shaped sections. The T-shaped sections are formed from metal tubing with adjustable portions, such as a threaded member, being connected at the ends of the top tubular member. When the scaffolding is erected, these adjustable members are adjusted out to engage the walls between which the scaffolding is utilized.

  • Patent number: 4057943
Abstract: A scaffolding arrangement is provided having removable bottom supports and adjustable outriggers for assembling the insulation and inner membrane of a liquefied natural gas (LNG) tank. A structural steel base is provided from which the scaffolding is supported. The structural steel base is supported from the bottom of the LNG vessel by adjustable screw jack supports. The inside of the LNG vessel is coated with various layers of insulating and support material and a final inner layer or membrane of stainless steel is provided over the insulation and other associated material. Any screw jack support can be removed, when adjacent screw jack supports are in place, allowing installation of the insulation and membrane in that area. Vertical supports are provided throughout the inside of the LNG vessel above the structural steel base. A plurality of horizontal spaced apart levels are formed within the LNG vessel to divide the inside of the vessel into a plurality of work platforms.
