    Abstract: A padlock concept consisting of a novel shackle comprised of two tapered shackle elements arranged so that they overlay each other to enclose and opening sufficient to accept the staple of a hasp or attachment device. The shackle elements are connected at one end and when unlocked and unlatched are free to move apart, in a motion causing the two shackle elements to separate, providing a clearance between them, at the unconnected end. Each shackle element includes an opening to allow the staple of the hasp to pass to the common opening. This clearance occurs in opposing elements so that when the elements are brought together or closed the staple of the hasp is completely enclosed by the two shackle elements which substantially fill the space available within the hasp staple. The elements are then latched and locked to provide the security function of a padlock engaged with the staple of a hasp or attachment device.

    Abstract: A tubular hasp for padlocks having U-shaped shackles comprising two tubular elements that attach separately to each side of a closure structure. With the closure in the closed position and the padlock shackle in the unlocked, open position, and rotated away from the closure structure the padlock will fit into the larger tubular element until stopped by the shackle coming into contact with the front wall. The padlock is moved toward the smaller tubular element and the shackle rotated through an opening provided in the front wall of the smaller tubular element until it reaches alignment with the mating hole in the padlock. The shackle is then closed, latched and locked within the padlock body. The combination of these elements provides a secure arrangement of tubular hasp and padlock with the shackle protected from the commonly used methods of forced attack.

    Abstract: A security shield for padlocks having U-shaped shackles and used with traditional hasp, staple, and various other types of attachment devices. The shield is a tube like device into which the padlock will fit, with a tab to limit longitudinal travel, and provided with clearance openings permitting the free swing of the unlocked shackle, and engagement with the attachment devices to be made secure. The combination of these elements provides protection for the shackle, and attachment device elements from the commonly used methods of forced attack.

    Abstract: A sliding shackle padlock for securing an outwardly opening door or closure provides a tapered shackle for cooperatively engaging the staple of a hasp or another fastening member on the door or closure, which may be removably secured to a door jamb. A protective cover is provided to conceal the locking arrangement between the tapered shackle and the staple or other fastening member. A ratchet arrangement or a spring clip arrangement is utilized to maintain the shackle in the shackled position within the staple or other fastening member.

    Abstract: A lateral extension of a shackle end and a lock body securely engage a hasp therebetween. Broadening the shackle end or tapering the shackle provides lateral extension. A shroud or encasement around the hasp, shackle and lock body provides additional security. A sliding shroud with attached shackle fits over the lock body encasement. Alternately, an extension of the lock body encasement itself serves as a shroud with a removable shackle, or a swing plate covers the hasp. Pivoting or rotating arms may secure the shackle to the lock body. Close contact with the hasp and encasement protects against tampering.

    Abstract: A locking bar assembly having a secondary safety release mechanism that includes a shaft that is removably engaged with and coupled to a strike plate cover of the locking bar assembly. The strike plate cover rigidly engages and secures in position a strike plate of the locking bar assembly. When the safety release mechanism is operated, the shaft is rotated to disengage and decouple from the strike plate cover thereby releasing the strike plate of the locking bar assembly and releasing the locking bar assembly.
