  • Patent number: 4832592
Abstract: An apparatus for making hollow objects comprises a preform core neck ring arrangment which include a support frame and thereon having a core with a base and a projecting portion, core neck ring segments disposed adjacent the base of the core to form a neck mold when in a closed position, a preform mold having a cavity for receiving the projecting portion, and means supported on the support frame for relatively moving the neck ring segments and core through means for maintaining the segments closed and moving the neck mold relative to the core in the direction of the longitudinal axis of the core, away from the base, and then moving the neck ring segments laterally away from the longitudinal axis of the core.

  • Patent number: 4529372
Abstract: Apparatus and method for forming hollow articles from plasticized materials are disclosed. A preform is partially formed under substantially no pressure on a preform core by introducing the core into a void-free charge of plasticized material that is placed in a preform cavity from a source of the plasticized material. After the preform core and preform cavity have moved together to define a preform mold space, the charge of plasticized material is subjected to a pressure forming step to form a completely packed preform on the core. The preform is then blow-molded in a blow cavity by introducing blowing gas into the preform through the preform core. Neck mold structure that strips and releases the formed article from the core is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 4128374
Abstract: Injection blow molding equipment for the production of hollow articles wherein cores are axially inserted in blow molds and blank molds is disclosed. Compact core assemblies and fluid supply systems integral with the platens allow the mold parts to be mounted on the surfaces of opposed, relatively movable platens. Partible neck rings associated with each core open divergently outwardly as the blow mold and core separate, to shorten machine cycle time. A manifold, supplied with cooling fluid from the periphery of a core mounting plate, distributes heat transfer fluid to the core assemblies for cooling the neck rings. In one embodiment, mounting blow mold sections are mounted on contra-oscillatable mounting members and are opened and closed by arcuate movement of the mounting members.

Date of Patent: December 5, 1978
