  • Publication number: 20110011677
Abstract: A fall arrest safety net assembly has the form of a bag constructed of wire mesh, with a closed end and an opposing open mouth about which a plurality of eyes are spaced. An elongate line has opposing first and second ends, first and second line portions of the line being disposed adjacent the first and second ends respectively, an intermediate portion of the line located between the first and second line portions. A choker fitting has two faces between which a plurality of openings extend, and an end fixture on the choker fitting. The first portion of the line is connected in a ring by the choker fitting, the first end being fixed to the end fixture, the first portion extending through the eyes for drawing the mouth closed, and the intermediate portion extending through the openings in the choker fitting.

  • Publication number: 20110010896
Abstract: In a hook fastener having a sliding closure for closing the mouth of the hook, a keeper prevents opening of the closure. The hook fastener includes a body having a base portion and a hook portion extending from an end of the base portion to define a gap between the hook and the base portion. An opening formed in the base portion has an elongate mouth intersecting an external face on the base portion. The closure includes a shaft part and a grip part, the shaft part received in the opening, the grip part protruding from the shaft part through the mouth for manipulation by a user. A spring urges the closure such that the shaft part extends out of the opening into the gap. The keeper is received to rotate upon the external face, being located between the grip part and abutment on the body. A slot in the keeper extends parallel to the mouth, the keeper preventing the user retracting the closure from the gap, except when the slot is rotated so as to be angularly aligned with the mouth.

  • Publication number: 20090140020
Abstract: An elongate carrying strap reinforced by longitudinally extending multi-strand wire cables (41) is engaged with a fitting (1) for forming a loop (64) at an end of the strap (2) so as to avoid inelastic deformation of the cable. A pair of multi-strand wire cables are received in parallel envelopes (43) disposed on opposite longitudinal edges of the strap, each envelope is tubular and formed in a flexible polymer strip (40) extruded over the cable. The fitting has a transverse bar portion (71) having a convex face abutting the inner side of the loop and a pair of transverse arm portions (9, 10) defining an opening therebetween, the opening receiving a neck (63) of the loop and having opposing strap-engaging surfaces abutting the outer side of the strap and cooperating to hold the inner side against the convex face (4) of the bar portion (71).

  • Publication number: 20080156835
Abstract: A shoulder strap assembly includes a shoulder-engaging portion to which a buckle is fixed and a length-adjustable strap which cooperates with the buckle. The length-adjustable strap includes a portion reinforced by metal threads connected to metal threads provided adjacent the fabric wall of the bag to deter cutting through the strap. The reinforced portion of the length-adjustable strap extends through a longitudinal aperture in the shoulder-engaging portion and an unreinforced portion of the strap is provided to extend in a loop around part of a tension-locked buckle.
