  • Publication number: 20070142307
Abstract: Novel estrogenic compounds of Formula I are provided. wherein the bond represented by the wavy line may be a single or double bond such that when the wavy line is a single bond, R1 is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, sulfate and glucoronate or other esters, and when the wavy line is a double bond, R1 does not exist; R2 is lower alkyl; R3 may be selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, sulfate, or glucuronide or other esters; and R4 through R13 may independently be selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, hydroxy, ketone, lower alkyl, lower alkoxy, halogen, and carbonyl groups and R14 is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, sulfate and glucoronide and other esters. When R1 is hydroxy, the hydroxy or ester substituent may have either an ? or a ? orientation. Compositions of matter including compounds of the present invention are also provided as are methods of treating mammals in need of treatment using compounds of the present invention.

  • Publication number: 20050267159
Abstract: The invention provides magnesium S-omeprazolato coordination compounds according to formula (I): [Mg(solva)x(solvb)y][Mg(S-omeprazolato)3]2.(solvc)z??(I), pharmaceutical compositions and processes of making the same. In formula (I), solva, solvb, and solvc represent solvent molecules where x and y are independently selected from integers 0 to 6, the sum of which is 4 or 6, while z is a positive rational number from 0 to 6. The compounds are useful for the treatment of gastric acid related conditions and the inhibition of gastric acid secretion.

  • Publication number: 20050203115
Abstract: The present invention provides an ion pair compound of the formula [narcotic]+[A]?, wherein [narcotic]+ represents at least one cation of at least one narcotic agent or one or more stereochemical isomers thereof and [A]? represents at least one anion of at least one NSAID or one or more stereochemical isomers thereof. An example of the ion pair compound is propoxyphene diclofenate. The ion pair compounds, or their pharmaceutical compositions, are useful in methods of treating a wide variety of conditions that indicate analgesics, anti-inflammatory agents, or both. Under the conditions prescribed for their use, the ion pair compounds exhibit poor or complete insolubility but excellent chemical stability in low pH environments, such as those found in the stomach. The ion pair compounds readily dissolve and dissociate in higher pH environments such as the small intestine to release the constituent narcotic and NSAID.

  • Publication number: 20050096304
Abstract: The invention encompasses neutral dithiocarbamate metal compounds and methods of treating cancer using such compounds, along with methods for sensitizing AIDS/HIV patients to anti-retroviral therapy by blocking the P-glycoprotein membrane toxin extrusion pump using such compounds. Compounds inhibit the growth of cancer cells of a variety of cell types. A method is presented for using the neutral compounds disclosed herein, amongst other uses disclosed herein, to reduce tumor growth, and to potentiate the effect of other anticancer agents. The invention also encompasses pharmaceutical compositions comprising the neutral compounds and a pharmaceutically acceptable excipient, diluent, solubilizer, solvent, adjuvant or carrier, or a mixture thereof.

  • Patent number: 3986010
Abstract: A computer-controlled machine tool includes force deflection and tool-part contact sensors. A tool is inserted in the chuck of the automatic machine tool and the tool is driven over a deflection testing pad on the work support so that upon contact a first tool deflection force is measured. Then the tool is driven a small increment in the same direction to provide a second but greater tool deflection force in the same direction. Then the computer calculates the differential value of the tool deflection force over the distance moved. Also the error between estimated and actual tool diameter is calculated from the difference between the tool offset value used and the distance required for adjustment of the tool from a spaced starting position to contact with the pad.
