  • Publication number: 20200183903
Abstract: A database performance testing system and non-transitory, computer readable medium utilizes a virtual database system to test a production-level database without interfering with operations of the production-level database by redirecting test commands to a backup database. By incorporating the virtual database system into a production-level database test, the database performance testing system and non-transitory, computer readable medium is able to overcome technical and resource obstacles of testing against a production-level database. The database performance testing system also includes a database management system that issues a test command to a production-level database. However, the virtual database system intercepts the test command and redirects the test command to a backup database, which is an equivalent of the production-level database.

  • Publication number: 20150203899
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a method of distinguishing active TB in the presence of a complicating factor, for example, latent TB and/or co-morbidities, such as those that present similar symptoms to TB, such as HIV. The method employs a 27 gene signature to distinguish active tuberculosis from latent TB infection, a 44 gene signature to distinguish active TB from other diseases such as HIV and/or a 53 gene signature to discriminate active TB from latent TB and other diseases. The disclosure also relates to a gene signature employed in the method, a bespoke gene chip for use in the method and a disease risk score obtainable from the method.

  • Publication number: 20090317854
Abstract: Diagnostic testing and immunomonitoring that uses genetically detoxified Bordetella pertussis CyaA as a delivery system are effective in tracking any immune responses, such as those generated by infectious and non-infectious diseases, or vaccinations, for example. T cells previously stimulated by a given antigen can be restimulated in vitro by the same antigen fused or chemically coupled to CyaA or a fragment thereof. The invention includes diagnostic tests and immunomonitoring for tuberculosis by providing a delivery system, which can deliver the M. tuberculosis immunodominant proteins ESAT-6 and CFP-10, to human cells and non-human animal cells, such as cattle. In addition, fusion proteins between CyaA and cancer antigens are also provided as diagnostic tests and immunomonitoring systems for cancers, such as melanoma.

  • Publication number: 20070073261
Abstract: The present invention relates to a disposable absorbent article comprising a chassis defining a front waist region, a rear waist region, and a crotch region disposed between the front waist region and rear waist region. The article includes front and back ear panels that are joined at opposing side seams. The side seam can include an initiation region, which can be bonded or unbonded, and a propagation region. The initiation region and the propagation region have a resistance to user-applied opening forces. The resistance at the initiation region is less than that of the propagation region. The seam can further include additional regions. The article can include a tab member that can be engaged by the user to facilitate opening of the seam.

  • Patent number: 5543806
Abstract: HF aerials for ship-shore communications consist of spaced dipole arrays. By appropriate adaptive phasing very high gain HF aerials are formed. On transmission a feedback signal is required from the receiver, otherwise similar algorithms are used to control the beamforming. A random phase algorithm has been devised for the phases applied to the array aerials, operating in four tranches of 100 iteration steps with progressively reduced maximum phase variation. The initial step has a phase variation in the range .+-.180.degree.. The algorithm has the advantage that there is a high probability that a relatively high gain beam will be immediately formed in the required direction and thus the system can quickly settle towards a direction where the signal is weak. When in the transmit mode the receiver returns a signal to the transmitter giving the step number of the random phases which gives the maximum received signal.

  • Patent number: 5422913
Abstract: A high frequency transmitter comprises a large number of narrowband channels spaced over a broad bandwidth transmission. In one arrangement input data to be transmitted is demultiplexed (1101) so that sections of data are transmitted in groups of channels at 50 baud (say), each 50 baud channel produces a number of diversity channels modulated using difference phase shift key (DPSK) (103) and then added (105) for transmission. In the receiver, coherent summation (803) of close-bunched channels can be used and semi-coherent channel addition (805) can be used across the complete bandwidth. The received signal is convened to digital form then processed by an FFT circuit to produce frequency bins corresponding to the transmitted diversity channel frequencies. DPSK demodulation is carried out and running averages are carried out in each channel to determine the proportion of times that the phase difference falls within allowed limits (907).
