    Abstract: The invention is directed to an architecture that includes a first queue 128, a first queue reader 148 that reads data entities in the first queue, and a first queue writer 124 that writes data entities to the first queue. The architecture is able to periodically set one or more backup administration parameters equal to administration parameter(s) associated with the first queue 128 and, when the first queue 128 is restored, copy data entities from backup storage to the first queue 128 and set the administration parameter(s) to the corresponding backup administration parameter(s).

A single file set stores messages from the source, but a plurality of processes transmits the messages to the destinations. A particular destination can receive the messages by having a process for such transmission. Advantageously, the source need not have a record of the identity or number of the destinations.
