Publication number: 20110316563Abstract: A system for validating capacitance measurement characteristics for a biomass measurement device (probe), is disclosed in which a test chamber for contains a test liquid medium, and a docking arrangement enables the measurement device to be disposed in the test medium in the chamber to measure the capacitance of the medium at a measurement zone in the chamber. A capacitive agent or structure (such as a capacitive device) is positioned in the test medium in the test chamber in a predetermined manner in order to provide a permittivity at the test zone which is different to the permittivity of the media without the capacitive agent or structure present.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 2, 2009Publication date: December 29, 2011Inventors: Stephen Jeffrey Davies, Stephen Taylor, Robert William Todd, Lindsay Agate, Matthew Lee

Patent number: 7832419Abstract: A dishwasher includes a cabinet and a wash system slidably mounted within the cabinet in such a manner that it may be withdrawn horizontally out of the cabinet for loading with dishes. The wash system includes an open top wash chamber having a floor and side walls adapted to accommodate dishes within which wash liquid is sprayed. Two rotating spray arms are mounted in the bottom of the chamber for producing a spray of wash liquid within the chamber. A wash pump for pressurizing wash liquid discharges into a manifold located on the floor of the chamber. The spray arms receive wash liquid from the manifold. A drain pump evacuates wash liquid from said chamber. A wash chamber closure is mounted in the top of the cabinet. The closure engages with the wash chamber opening to sealably close off the wash chamber on its retraction into the cabinet.Type: GrantFiled: February 12, 2007Date of Patent: November 16, 2010Assignee: Fisher & Paykel Appliances LimitedInventors: Wayne Andrew Mason, Robert William Todd

Publication number: 20080190467Abstract: An appliance comprising a sealable chamber (10) and a door (12) for the sealable chamber (10), wherein in an opened position the door (12) allows access to the chamber (10); and a venting system for allowing air to escape from the sealable chamber (10) when the door (12) is in closed position, wherein the venting system includes a vent flap (11), the vent flap (11) moveable from a closed position sealing the vent system to an open position allowing air to escape. The venting system allows an appliance, such as dishwasher, to expel unwanted air or vapour in a controlled manner whilst the appliance remains closed.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 16, 2006Publication date: August 14, 2008Inventors: Steven Maunsell, Robert William Todd, Dragos Mugurel Blaga

Patent number: 6571808Abstract: A washing appliance such as a dishwasher where a top-loading wash chamber is slidable out of cabinet for loading and unloading has a cabinet-mounted chamber lid which is power driven down onto the open top of the wash chamber during the washing cycle. Linear actuators or motors mounted in opposite sides of the appliance cabinet are coupled to opposite sides of the lid to pull the lid down when the chamber has been slid back into the cabinet. In a preferred embodiment rotating dc motors are used to rotate a threaded nut which in turn produces linear motion in a threaded shaft engaged within the nut and connected to the lid.Type: GrantFiled: April 9, 2001Date of Patent: June 3, 2003Assignee: Fisher & Paykel LimitedInventor: Robert William Todd
