  • Patent number: 8636059
Abstract: A downhole circulating valve includes a generally tubular outer housing having a generally axially extending internal passageway. At least one generally longitudinally extending circulating passageway is formed through at least a portion of the housing. At least one exterior port and at least one interior port are in fluid communication with the circulating passageway. At least one seal plug is disposed within the circulating passageway. The seal plug has a first position relative to the housing wherein the seal plug is remote from the exterior port and the interior port, thereby allowing fluid flow between the exterior port and the interior port through the circulating passageway. • Patent number: 8566184
Abstract: There is provided a rebalancing tool and method that enables an advisor to monitor client account performance against a client account model, receive alerts out-of-balance client accounts, and preview rebalancing hypothetical results. The rebalancing tool enables the advisor to perform the steps of creating a client model via a web interface and compare the client account against the client model at the asset class level. The rebalancing tool can display out-of-balance client account alerts and out-of-balance client accounts on a rebalancing tool page, and enable a user to test a rebalancing hypothetical that includes modifications to the percentage asset allocation or percentage tolerance threshold at the asset class level, and planned trades to the client account. The rebalancing tools enables a user to prepare rebalancing hypothetical results that may then be presented to the client for approval.

  • Publication number: 20130264069
Abstract: Presented are apparatus and methods for pump-through fluid loss control. In one embodiment, the fluid loss control device is positioned in a wellbore having a first and a second one-way valve therein. The first one-way valve is openable in response to a first, selected differential pressure acting upward across the first one-way valve. For example, fluid pumped from an ESP from below the device acts to open the first one-way valve. Fluid is flowed upward through the device through the first one-way valve while the second one-way valve is closed. The first one-way valve is closed by reducing the first differential pressure across the first one-way valve, for example, by turning off the ESP. The second one-way valve is opened in response to a second, selected differential pressure acting downward across the valve. Fluid is flowed downward through the second one-way valve while the first one-way valve is closed.

  • Publication number: 20130206389
Abstract: Certain aspects and embodiments of the present invention are directed to a dual closure system disposed within a wellbore and capable of preventing the production of fluids from a fluid-producing formation to the surface. The dual closure system can include a passive closure mechanism and a subsurface safety valve coupled to an electric submersible pump positioned within a passageway defined by the tubing string. The passive closure mechanism and the subsurface safety valve can prevent production of fluid in the absence of the subsurface safety valve. The subsurface safety valve can be positioned within a passageway defined by a tubing string such that the subsurface safety valve can apply force to the passive closure mechanism. The force applied to the passive closure mechanism can maintain the passive closure mechanism in an open position, allowing movement of fluid to the surface in the presence of the active closure mechanism.

  • Publication number: 20130175025
Abstract: Certain aspects and embodiments of the present invention are directed to a subsurface safety valve that can be disposed in a wellbore that is through a fluid-producing formation. The subsurface safety valve can include a closure mechanism, a sleeve, and a control line. The closure mechanism can be positioned in a passageway defined by a tubing string. The closure mechanism can be configured to prevent a flow of fluid to a portion of the passageway that is closer to a surface of the wellbore than the closure mechanism. The sleeve can be positioned in the passageway adjacent to the closure mechanism. The control line can communicate pressure to a piston from a pressure source within an inner diameter of the tubing string, causing the piston to apply a force to the sleeve. The sleeve can open the closure mechanism in response to the force being applied to the sleeve.

In some embodiments, the subsurface safety valve can include at least one terminal. The at least one terminal can form an electrical connection between the subsurface safety valve and the electric submersible pump. The subsurface safety valve can receive power from the electric submersible pump via the electrical connection.
