  • Patent number: 12293871
Abstract: Described herein are concepts, system and techniques which provide a means to construct robust high-field superconducting magnets using simple fabrication techniques and modular components that scale well toward commercialization. The resulting magnet assembly—which utilizes non-insulated, high temperature superconducting tapes (HTS) and provides for optimized coolant pathways—is inherently strong structurally, which enables maximum utilization of the high magnetic fields available with HTS technology. In addition, the concepts described herein provide for control of quench-induced current distributions within the tape stack and surrounding superstructure to safely dissipate quench energy, while at the same time obtaining acceptable magnet charge time. The net result is a structurally and thermally robust, high-field magnet assembly that is passively protected against quench fault conditions.

  • Publication number: 20250137986
Abstract: A method for estimating the strength of a laser welded blank including a first blank and a second blank joined together by a weld seam. The method may include forming a plurality of indentations in the first blank, the second blank, and the weld seam to determine an average value of a micro-hardness (Vickers); determining a scale-up ratio K; multiplying the scale-up ratio K by the average values of the micro-hardness of each of the first blank, the second blank, and the weld seam to obtain a scaled-up average value of the microhardness of each of the first blank, the second blank, and the weld seam; running a finite elemental analysis (FEA) simulation using the scaled-up average values of the microhardness; and based on the results of the simulation, determining whether the strength of the laser welded blank is sufficient to withstand being subjected to a forming process.

  • Publication number: 20250088901
Abstract: A technique for reducing or eliminating effects of frequency and phase offset in a communications system includes implementing a demodulator having a Kalman filter based phase-locked loop for phase-shift keying or quadrature amplitude modulated signals. In an acquisition mode of operation, the Kalman filter based phase-locked loop continuously updates an error correction signal until an error between a received version of a predetermined signal transmitted using phase-shift keying or quadrature amplitude modulation and the predetermined signal is at or near zero. In a tracking mode of operation, the Kalman filter based phase-locked loop adjusts the error correction signal to maintain the error between the received signal and a predicted signal at or near zero.

  • Patent number: 12204517
Abstract: A database management system is described that can encode data to generate a plurality of data vectors. The database management system can perform the encoding by using a dictionary. The database management system can adaptively reorder the plurality of data vectors to prepare for compression of the plurality of data vectors. During a forward pass of the adaptive reordering, most frequent values of a data vector of the plurality of data vectors can be moved-up in the data vector. During a backward pass of the adaptive reordering, content within a rest range of a plurality of rest ranges can be rearranged within the plurality of data vectors according to frequencies of the content. The reordering according to frequency can further sort the rest range by value. Related apparatuses, systems, methods, techniques, computer programmable products, computer readable media, and articles are also described.

  • Patent number: 10762718
Abstract: A system and method is disclosed for determining an optimal direction and a minimum directional negative distance between two objects. The system and method uses an iterative process involving rotating a vector about two or more axes to obtain a group of new vectors, determining which one of the new group of vectors has the smallest directional negative distance, comparing the vector having the smallest directional negative distance to a preset value, and repeating the above operations as needed until a vector is obtained which does not exceed the preset value, and which is then identified as the optimum directional vector having a minimal directional negative value.
