  • Patent number: 4619077
Abstract: The weather strip is intended for application to the edge of an opening or a closure element for the body of a motor vehicle, this edge having successive, substantially straight portions connected by corner portions with small radii of curvature. The strip includes an anchoring section to which a tubular sealing section also of elastomeric material is connected, this being co-extruded with the anchoring section. The tubular sealing section has first and second longitudinal portions intended for connection to corresponding substantially straight portions and to corresponding corner portions of the said edge, respectively. The wall of the tubular sealing section, in the second longitudinal portions, has a thickness which is greater than the thickness of the first longitudinal portions; the increase in thickness is achieved during extrusion of the weather strip. The invention also relates to an extrusion head for making such a weather strip.

  • Patent number: 4576773
Abstract: An extrusion head is disclosed, for extruding weather strips of elastomeric material, particularly for motor vehicles, of the type comprising an anchoring section and a longitudinal sealing section in the form of a tab coextruded with the anchoring section. The extrusion head comprises a die with an extrusion orifice having a shape corresponding to the cross-section of the weather strip to be extruded, and a deflector device adapted, when actuated, to change the inclination or orientation of the sealing section relative to the anchoring section during extrusion.

  • Patent number: 4531326
Abstract: The weather strip is intended to be applied to the edge of an aperture or closure element of the body of a motor vehicle and comprises an anchoring section of elastomeric material with a channel section, and a tubular sealing section also of elastomeric material coextruded with the anchoring section. In the portions of the weather strip intended to be applied to corner portions of the edge of the aperture or closure element, or to portions of the edge close to which there are obstacles, the tubular sealing section is curved relative to the anchoring section and is connected to the anchoring section along a curved line. The invention also relates to an extrusion head for extruding a weather strip of the said type.

  • Patent number: 4350084
Abstract: An external rear-view mirror for a motor vehicle comprises a fairing with a rearwardly directed opening in which a reflective plate is adjustably mounted. The fairing is provided with a lateral flange for fixing of the mirror to the vehicle. An elbow-shaped duct is formed in the fairing and serves to conduct air entering an inlet in the forwardly directed wall of the fairing, out through an aperture in the fixing flange. The outlet end of the duct is terminated by an outlet fitting which is intended to be mounted in an aperture in the lateral wall of the vehicle body. This fitting is provided with a shutter device for regulating the air flow through the duct into the vehicle.
