Abstract: An apparatus for manipulating the orientation of a metal bloom supported on a conveyor, the bloom being elongated and substantially square in cross section, comprising a conveyor, including rollers, disposed along a generally horizontal path, an upright abutment located adjacent the path, and a pivotable arm traversing the path having a free end with a first workpiece engaging surface located to intercept the path and receive and support a workpiece from the conveyor, the surface extending laterally from the path beyond the abutment and a second workpiece engaging surface laterally offset from the path beyond the abutment and extending above the first surface.

Abstract: A rolling roll with rolling ring which includes a pair of supporting half-shafts, which cooperate with each other and are suitable for the keying of the relative rolling ring. The keying is carried out substantially at the zone of cooperation between the half-shafts, the half-shafts (12a-12b) being set in traction against each other by means of a tie rod. The cooperation between the two half-shafts is obtained with a tapered coupling of a male/female type of the half-shafts to each other, this male/female coupling providing a zone of superimposing of terminal portions (12a-12b) of the half-shafts (12a-12b), this zone covering at least an important part of the axial extent of the rolling ring.

Abstract: Compensating device able to compensate the load acting on e upper bearings (13-17) of shafts of rolls (10) supported at only one end on rolling stands (18), such rolls (10) comprising shafts (11) having at least two bearings (13-14), an upper bearing (13) and a lower bearing (14), the device comprising springs (20) able to provide a resiliently yielding constraint between such bearings (13-14).
