  • Patent number: 11542839
Abstract: The invention relates to a system and process for electricity generation using steam production by hydrogen combustion, and more particularly to a Rankine Cycle system and process for the generation of electricity using a primary pure hydrogen fuel source for the generation of steam in the boiler system. The Rankine Cycle system and process may also use one or more secondary fuel sources in combination with the primary hydrogen fuel source to supplement the primary pure hydrogen fuel if necessary. Additionally, the inventive system and process can use a flame temperature reducing fluid for lowering bulk flame temperature of a burner in the boiler system to increase equipment life and decrease equipment failure. The inventive Rankine Cycle system and process reduce emissions of carbon dioxide, nitrogen oxides, and other greenhouse gases into the atmosphere, and reduce bulk flame temperatures to increase equipment life and decrease equipment failure.

  • Publication number: 20160186201
Abstract: The present invention relates to the generation of transgenic plants resistant to infections caused by microorganisms restricted to the phloem, and it comprises the induction of the expression of a chimeric or fusion protein, which comprises a phloem protein of Citrus aurantifolia (CsPP16), a linker protein and a protein with antimicrobial activity; for example, with antibacterial activity or antibacterial hydrolytic enzyme. The portion of the fusion protein corresponding to the CsPP16 protein can exert its function of simplasmic movement, which occurs via the plasmodesmata of the plant to reach the phloem sieve tubes, while the antimicrobial portion can act to eliminate the microorganism, which settles in the phloem. The invention allows controlling the disease that causes the citrus yellowing or Huanglongbing (HLB), also applying to the treatment of other diseases caused by bacteria and other microorganisms that settle in the vascular tissue of higher plants.

  • Patent number: 9377188
Abstract: An oscillating combustor may support a time-sequenced combustion reaction having rich and lean phases. The rich and lean phases may be determined according to a flame position relative to a diverging fuel jet. The flame location may be modulated responsive to an interaction between applying a constant voltage or charge rate to a fuel stream or flame, and modulating continuity between a conductive or semiconductive flame holder and an activation voltage.

  • Publication number: 20160003471
Abstract: A furnace has a fuel and oxidant source to create a flow of combustible fuel and oxidant mixture, a perforated flame holder on which the flow impinges, and a support structure to support the perforated flame holder in a position where it at least partially contains combustion of the fuel and oxidant mixture. The support structure mechanically engages with the interior of the furnace to support the perforated flame holder, which may be movable within the furnace via a mechanism to optimize combustion or reduce NOx. The support may contain fluid coolant. The perforated flame holder may be moved into and out of a combustion region.
