  • Publication number: 20080196563
Abstract: A method for mechanical machining, in particular for drilling and turning light alloy wheels , comprising prior to the mechanical machining step, a step of orientation and measurement of the wheel including the steps of arranging a device for seating the wheel with at least three seating areas spaced apart from each other angularly at a regular angular pitch and forming respective seating surfaces coplanar with each other and belonging to a common reference plane, a wheel being brought into seating contact on these surfaces with a portion of its front flange, the wheel being approximately coaxial with a central reference axis of the device perpendicular to the reference plane; determining using distance sensing means the radial coordinates of a first plurality of points of a common surface of the flange, the points of this plurality being identified by moving the sensing means radially relative to the central reference axis along respective directions radial to this axis until the flange is intercepted, and c

  • Patent number: 7367096
Abstract: Equipment for mechanical machining, especially the turning and drilling of mechanical workpieces, such as light alloy wheels and the like, includes at least one turning unit with a double chuck to support the workpieces being machined and a turning head designed to work in association with one or other of the chucks alternately. At least one first workpiece loading/unloading device can be used for moving the workpieces being machined on one or other of the chucks so as to bring about loading/unloading of the workpieces from one of the chucks at the same time as mechanical machining is being carried out on the other chuck. The equipment further includes at least one drilling unit operatively associated with the turning unit and including at least one first drilling head combined with at least one corresponding first workpiece-holding device and at least one second device for loading/unloading parts to move parts being machined in the drilling unit.

  • Patent number: 5299476
Abstract: Manipulators (M1, M2) capable of gripping a workpiece to be machined are mounted on the tool-carrying slide or slides or on the so-called cross slide or slides (S) of a vertical lathe. The manipulators are preferably located outside the tool stations. The travel movements of the slide or slides are adapted so that, after machining of the workpiece located on the chuck (G) has been completed, a manipulator (M2) is positioned on the chuck in order to take hold of and extract the workpiece, while the other manipulator (M1) is positioned, simultaneously, in a loading station (S1) in order to take hold of and raise a new workpiece to be machined. With successive displacements of the slide or slides, the manipulator (M2) with the machined workpiece is positioned in a station (S2) for receiving and removing the workpiece itself, while the other manipulator (M1) is simultaneously positioned on the chuck (G) in order to insert the new workpiece in the latter.
