  • Patent number: 7233623
Abstract: A method of calculating the discrete cosine transform (DCT) of blocks of pixels of a picture includes the steps of defining first subdivision blocks called range blocks, having a fractional and scaleable size N/2i*N/2i, where i is an integer number, with respect to a maximum pre-defined size of N*N pixels of blocks of division of the picture, referred to as domain blocks, shiftable by intervals of N/2i pixels. The method also includes the step of calculating the DCT on 2i range blocks of a subdivision of a domain block of N*N pixels of the picture, in parallel.

  • Publication number: 20050169464
Abstract: A method for decrypting the encrypted messages sent by a transmission device to a first electronic device associated with a first trusted authority and to a second electronic device (ME). In one embodiment, first and second tokens are generated and exchanged, respectively, by the first and second electronic devices, which then generate a joint decryption key in order to decrypt the encrypted message.

  • Publication number: 20050125670
Abstract: A method establishes a communication between a first electronic device associated with a first trusted authority and a second electronic device. The method includes: making a first key available to the first device for the communication between the first authority and the first device. A second trusted authority, associated with the second device and distinct and autonomous with respect to the first authority, generates a second key in order to communicate with the second device. Furthermore, the method includes: making the second key available to the second device; and providing the first and second devices with a communication key, to be used communication between the first and second devices, through at least one of the first and second authorities.

  • Publication number: 20050102507
Abstract: A method of establishing an encrypted communication by means of keys between a first electronic device associated with a first trusted authority and a second electronic device, including generating a first secret key associated with the first device for the management of the communication, generating, at least in part by means of the first authority, a second secret key associated with the second device for the management of the communication. The method includes generating the first key at least in part by a second trusted authority associated with the second device that is distinct and autonomous from the first authority. Alternatively, the generation of the first key is performed, at least in part, by the second device passing through the second trusted authority.

  • Patent number: 6774827
Abstract: Binary words are converted between a non-encoded format and a compressed encoded format, in which the binary words are, at least in part, represented by encoded bit sequences that are shorter than the respective binary word in the non-encoded format. The shortest encoded bit sequences are selected according to the statistical recurrence of the respective words in the non-encoded format, and associated with the binary words with higher recurrence are encoded bit sequences comprising bit numbers that are accordingly smaller. The correspondence between binary words in non-encoded format and the encoded bit sequences associated to them is established by means of indices of an encoding vocabulary. The conversion process includes: arranging the indices in an ordered sequence; organizing the sequence into groups of vectors; splitting each group into a given number of vectors; and encoding the vectors independently from one another.

  • Patent number: 6108381
Abstract: A method for reducing the RAM requirement for temporarily storing a stream of data blocks in a coding/decoding system of information transferable by blocks, includes the steps of: compressing and coding the data by blocks through a tree search vector quantization (TSVQ); storing TSVQ compressed and coded data in the RAM; and decoding and decompressing in a subsequent reading of the data stored in the RAM the coded and compressed data, thereby reconstituting the stream of digital data blocks.

  • Patent number: 6043764
Abstract: System for decoding code words in the EFM-PLUS and/or EFM format in which an enumeration block makes it possible to associate in a one-to-one manner with each of the code words a numerical value from a practically continuous set of numerical values. The numerical value, possibly summed with an offset value, by an address generator, addresses a read-only memory in which are stored information codes, each of which is associated, as decoded information, with one of the code words.
