  • Patent number: 10183901
Abstract: Methods and compositions for stabilization and subsequent hydrogenation of a microbial-derived immiscible olefin are described. The methods comprise separating immiscible olefin from a mixture comprising an aqueous solution, microbial cells and immiscible olefin thereby forming a crude olefin composition; purifying the crude olefin composition thereby forming a purified olefin composition; and adding a phenolic antioxidant to the purified olefin composition wherein the phenolic antioxidant is a phenol derivative containing an unfused phenyl ring with one or more hydroxyl substituents. The methods further comprise reacting the purified olefin composition with hydrogen in the presence of a hydrogen catalyst such that hydrogen saturates at least one double bond in the olefin. Hydrogenated compositions produced by the methods are further provided.

  • Patent number: 9611189
Abstract: Methods and compositions for stabilization and subsequent hydrogenation of a microbial-derived immiscible olefin are described. The methods comprise providing a feed stream to the inlet of a reactor, wherein the feed stream comprises a microbial-derived immiscible olefin composition stabilized with a phenolic antioxidant which is a phenol derivative containing an unfused phenyl ring with one or more hydroxyl substituents. The methods further comprise contacting the feed stream with hydrogen in the presence of a hydrogenation catalyst at a temperature of about 20° C. or greater, and generating a product stream comprising a hydrogenated immiscible olefin composition. The microbial-derived immiscible olefin composition stabilized with the phenolic antioxidant remains stable over time, and its hydrogenation reaction time and process are improved.

  • Patent number: 4303145
Abstract: A dual purpose ladder attachment usable singularly as a human body support platform with hand rails or in a pair as a scaffold jack. Each ladder attachment comprises two pairs of pivotally joined support beams. Each pair of pivotally joined support beams have their non-joined ends connected to ladder rung engaging brackets. Each bracket is sized and shaped to fit over the side rail of the ladder while engaged with a ladder rung. When the device is being used as a body support platform, a cross-bar connected between the parallel support beams supports a rigid planar surface which is also attached to a ladder rung. This platform is useful for standing on the ladder while holding the side rails. In this configuration the device is mounted to extend vertically upward on the upper side of the ladder, allowing a user to stand comfortably on the ladder.
