Right and left front spring hangers (34, 36) extend downward from the front side frame members at a point substantially adjacent to the front ends and each include a bottom end (58) having a mounting flange (56) thereon. A cross member (20) extends transversely within the motor vehicle, having right and left cross member ends (62) attached to the mounting flange (56).

    Abstract: A fuel tank support for supporting and protecting a plastic fuel tank is mounted to the vehicle with the plastic fuel tank supported therein. Integral mounting members are formed in the fuel tank support to provide structural integrity, thereby obviating the need for additional mounting hardware and straps. In addition, apertures formed on the walls of the support provide vent holes for venting stagnant hot air from the space between the fuel tank and the fuel tank support.
