  • Publication number: 20230296477
Abstract: A rotary encoder includes a stator, a malfunction determination device, and a shaft having a bearing configuration internally connected to an axial bushing arranged in a housing. The bearing configuration provides for rotation of the shaft relative to the housing. A rotor is attached to the shaft. The malfunction determination device includes a detection device configured to determine whether a connection device is operably connected between a fixed portion of the encoder and the bushing, and to output the status of the connection to a control device. If there is no connection, the detection device determines a rotation of the bushing associated with a malfunction of the bearing configuration.

  • Publication number: 20230243719
Abstract: A rotary encoder includes a stator and a shaft having a bearing configuration arranged in a housing. The shaft is rotatable relative to the housing via the bearing arrangement, and a rotor is attached to the shaft. A strain sensor arrangement, attached to the housing, is adapted to determine a malfunction of the bearing configuration. The housing has a flexible structure that facilitates transmitting forces associated with the bearing configuration to the strain sensor arrangement. The strain sensor arrangement is adapted to detect tension and/or compression associated with the housing, and a malfunction of the bearing configuration is determined based on the detected tension and/or compression.

  • Publication number: 20230174153
Abstract: A frequency-tuned vibration damper assembly includes a horn plate connected to a vibrating surface of a steering wheel structure at a first interface via a plurality of first elastic damper elements so as to be movable in relation to the vibrating surface. A mass supported by the plate is movable in relation to the plate on an opposite front side of the plate. Elastic buffer elements are provided at a second interface between the plate and the mass. The stiffness of the elastic buffer elements is selected such that they form second elastic damper elements which together with the first elastic damper elements and the mass form a frequency-tuned dampened mass-spring system having two damping interfaces and being frequency-tuned to vibrations of said vibrating surface.

  • Publication number: 20220154794
Abstract: A frequency-tuned vibration damper device and assembly which may be used in steering wheels for motor vehicles is provided. Elastomeric stiffening bridges or connectors, integrally formed in elastomeric damper bodies, are used to obtain different damping frequencies in different spatial directions (y, z). Stiffening in specific direction(s) (y) allows larger frequency differences to be achieved. Asymmetric elastomeric damper bodies are arranged to operate with a combination of compression-mode damping and shear-mode damping along a first axis (y), and dominantly with a shear-mode damping along a different, second direction (z).
