  • Patent number: 10066460
Abstract: A shut-in valve tool for use in a well has a tool body defining a flow path for the flow of well fluid from outside the tool through the tool body to another part of the well. The tool has an inlet port defined in the tool body through which well fluid must flow to enter the flow path. The tool has a sliding valve member located within the tool body and moveable between a first position in which the inlet port is open, and a second position in which the inlet port is blocked. The tool has a supply of compressed fluid and an actuating mechanism which uses the compressed fluid for driving the sliding valve member from the first position to the second position.

  • Patent number: 9816342
Abstract: This invention relates to a junk catcher (2, 2?) releasably connected to a retrievable bridge plug (4, 4?) connectable to a setting tool (6) for joint deployment of bridge plug (4, 4?) and junk catcher (2, 2?) in a borehole (9) or a tubular in the borehole (9). Setting tool (6) extends through a fishing neck (12), a catcher tube (14), a flanged section (16), a valve chamber (18), a closable opening (20) and a portion of a setting sleeve (22, 22?) of junk catcher (2, 2?). Valve chamber (18) comprises a valve (50) arranged to close closable opening (20) after retrieval of setting tool (6) from junk catcher (2, 2?). The junk catcher (2, 2?) is connected to bridge plug (4, 4?) by at least one shear bolt (27, 38). Bridge plug (4, 4?) comprises a plug fishing neck (32, 32?) facing junk catcher (2, 2?), and bridge plug (4, 4?) comprises an equalizing channel (71) in a mandrel (7).

  • Publication number: 20140284047
Abstract: An expandable packer tool comprising a mandrel tool body; a sleeve-like packer element mounted on the tool body; and a setting mechanism that is operable to axially compress the packer element such that the diameter of the packer element in its compressed state is increased compared to it uncompressed state. An extrusion barrier can comprise a ring of seal elements disposed around the tool body on either side of the packer element, and arranged to engage the packer element so that expansion of the packer element causes the ring of seal elements to expand in a corresponding manner so as to form an extrusion barrier; wherein the ring of seal elements comprises wedge-shaped seal members comprising first seal members having a inner base wider than an outer surface, and second seal members having an inner base narrower than an outer surface, the ring comprising alternating first and second members, the inclined faces of each wedge-shaped member engaging the corresponding faces of adjacent members.
