Patent number: 11936888Abstract: Methods and systems for frame rate scalability are described. Support is provided for input and output video sequences with variable frame rate and variable shutter angle across scenes, or for input video sequences with fixed input frame rate and input shutter angle, but allowing a decoder to generate a video output at a different output frame rate and shutter angle than the corresponding input values. Techniques allowing a decoder to decode more computationally-efficiently a specific backward compatible target frame rate and shutter angle among those allowed are also presented.Type: GrantFiled: November 10, 2023Date of Patent: March 19, 2024Assignee: DOLBY LABORATORIES LICENSING CORPORATIONInventors: Robin Atkins, Peng Yin, Taoran Lu, Fangjun Pu, Sean Thomas McCarthy, Walter J. Patent number: 11924477Abstract: In a method to improve backwards compatibility when decoding high-dynamic range images coded in a wide color gamut (WCG) space which may not be compatible with legacy color spaces, hue and/or saturation values of images in an image database are computed for both a legacy color space (say, YCbCr-gamma) and a preferred WCG color space (say, IPT-PQ). Based on a cost function, a reshaped color space is computed so that the distance between the hue values in the legacy color space and rotated hue values in the preferred color space is minimized. HDR images are coded in the reshaped color space. Legacy devices can still decode standard dynamic range images assuming they are coded in the legacy color space, while updated devices can use color reshaping information to decode HDR images in the preferred color space at full dynamic range.Type: GrantFiled: June 27, 2023Date of Patent: March 5, 2024Assignee: Dolby Laboratories Licensing CorporationInventors: Robin Atkins, Peng Yin, Taoran Lu, Jaclyn Anne Pytlarz

Publication number: 20190281878Abstract: A method includes: generating a first nutritional plan for a first user to be implemented in a first time period; monitoring events relevant to real-world implementation of the first nutritional plan by the first user; detecting, via a first kitchen appliance, a first user action associated with the first kitchen appliance; determining a first deviation between the first nutritional plan and a projected nutritional outcome derived based on the monitored events that occurred during a first portion of the first time period up to detection of the first user action; in accordance with the first deviation, revising the first nutritional plan to obtain a second nutritional plan to be implemented in a remainder portion of the first time period; generating a first suggestion regarding a second user action associated with the first kitchen appliance based on the second nutritional plan; and outputting the first suggestion via the first kitchen appliance.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 19, 2018Publication date: September 19, 2019Inventors: Tian Tang, Robin Lu, Xin Liu, Chen Zhang, Dongyan Wang

Patent number: 10020604Abstract: A connection device employs a plurality of housing portions that are formed separately from one another and further includes a plurality of conductors. The plurality of conductors are situated on a first housing portion, and a second housing portion and a third housing portion are then affixed at opposite ends of the first housing portion to retain the conductors in place on the first housing portion. The first, second, and third housing portions, being connected together, are then received in a receptacle of a fourth housing portion to form the connection device. The conductors each have an elongated shank that is received in an elongated channel formed in the first housing portion before the second and third housing portions are attached thereto.Type: GrantFiled: December 28, 2016Date of Patent: July 10, 2018Assignee: EATON INTELLIGENT POWER LIMITEDInventors: Dai Vo, Erik Jeffrey Gouhl, Robin Lu

Patent number: 9105426Abstract: An electrical wiring device includes dampening member placed in contact with a stationary contact. The dampening member absorbs and thus decreases at least a portion of the vibration that occurs in the stationary contact when it is impacted by a movable contact in the electrical wiring device. Thus, the noise associated with the impact is lessened. In certain exemplary embodiments, the dampening member is a bumper cap which partially encases a portion of the stationary contact. In certain exemplary embodiments, the dampening member is a bumper pad intimately disposed between an edge of the stationary contact and a wall of the housing, such that movement or vibration of the stationary contact is lessened.Type: GrantFiled: March 8, 2013Date of Patent: August 11, 2015Assignee: Cooper Technologies CompanyInventors: Erik Gouhl, Robin Lu

Patent number: 8941021Abstract: The present disclosure provides a wiring device having a color change kit. The color change kit includes a removable skirt and switch cover. The skirt and switch cover, which are disposed on the wiring device and accessible by an end-user, are easily detachable from the wiring device. Thus, the skirt and the switch cover are replaced without replacing the entire wiring device. Further, the skirt and switch cover is replaced without removing the wiring device from a wall box or further disassembling the entire wiring device. In certain exemplary embodiments, the skirt is disposed within a housing of the wiring device, and the switch cover is disposed within the skirt.Type: GrantFiled: December 3, 2012Date of Patent: January 27, 2015Assignee: Cooper Technologies CompanyInventors: Erik Gouhl, Yogesh Vitthal Borkar, Robin Lu, Rohit Sumerchand Dodal, Oscar Neundorfer, Jerry Zhang

Patent number: 8502593Abstract: A circuit and method for debouncing an electrical signal are disclosed. A representative embodiment of the present invention may be set to remove (i.e., filter) noise or glitches in the low and high portions of an input signal, where the width of the noise or glitches while in the high or low state may be set using a programming interface. The filtering is done in a manner that results in a clean, debounced output signal having a low portion approximately equal to the low portion of the input signal, and a high portion approximately equal to the high portion of the input signal. Noise or glitches of less than programmable high or low glitch widths are filtered from the input signal and do not appear in the output signal.Type: GrantFiled: March 14, 2005Date of Patent: August 6, 2013Assignee: Broadcom CorporationInventors: Robin Lu, Yan Zhang
