  • Patent number: 9264846
Abstract: A mobile communications resource manager including a smart card configured to accept and store a user's personal information suitable for use in commercial transactions (physical tap or electronically) and communications operations, a cellular radio modem, at least one non-cellular radio modem and a controller. The controller is configured for establishing a short-range wireless connection via said non-cellular modem to at least one user accessible electronic device with human interface functionality and accepting a service request from the at least one user accessible electronic device and making a modem selection by selecting either a cellular or a non-cellular connection via a modem resident in the mobile communications resource manager to provide the communications link for the service request, based on a rule resident in the mobile communications resource manager.

Date of Patent: February 16, 2016
    Assignee: Iota, Inc.
Inventors: Russel M. Stromberg, James Pacyga, Daniel Ward Knodle, Robin Lynn Callender

  • Patent number: 7392527
Abstract: The kernel is a shared environment. Accordingly, many different kernel-mode drivers utilize services provided by the kernel. Furthermore, when shimming of drivers is necessary, it is desirable to support shim reuse amongst drivers with similar problems or issues, rather than generating a customized shim for each driver. To facilitate kernel-mode shimming and shim reuse, context information needs to be retrieved and maintained so that shims can identify particular driver calls and preserve driver specific linkage information. The present invention accomplishes the forgoing by employing an intermediate structure, a content component, between a client or driver call and a common shared shim to provide the shim with contextual information.

  • Patent number: 6640206
Abstract: A presently disclosed network oriented multiprocessing system, concentrated into a small space, uses a LAN (local area network) emulation protocol to transmit data packets directly between processing subsystems of the system via a bus connecting the processing subsystems. The processing subsystems and bus thereby constitute components of a virtual LAN defined by the LAN emulation protocol. The system also contains a storage subsystem which is connected to the same bus and is not a part of the virtual LAN. The spatial concentration of the system allows the bus to be operated at a speed sufficient to enable the processing subsystems to share access to the storage subsystem via the bus for retrieving stored information immediately relevant to program processes being executed in respective processing subsystems.
