  • Publication number: 20240116128
Abstract: A method of joining tubes with friction welding includes the steps of aligning end walls of tubes to be welded, introducing an intermediate tube segment between the tubes, and bringing the tube end walls together against opposing end walls of the tube segment to put the end walls under axial compressive stress at a friction ramp-up pressure. The method further includes rotating the intermediate tube segment about a tube segment longitudinal axis in at least one direction, increasing the axial compressive friction stress to a forging pressure in order to heat the end parts of the tube and the intermediate tube segment, and increasing the axial compressive friction stress to a forging pressure, thus joining the tubes and the tube segment. The tube segments have a tube wall made of a material resistant to hydrogen embrittlement.

  • Patent number: 11404800
Abstract: A conductor joint (1) is provided for connecting two conductors along a longitudinal direction. The conductor joint comprises a first segment having a first segment end (202) adapted connecting to an end portion of a first conductor and a second segment (300) comprising a second segment end (302) relative to the longitudinal direction adapted for receiving a second conductor end of a second conductor. The second segment further has an opposite second segment end (304) fixed, or forming an integral part with, an opposite first segment end (204) of the first segment (200), a tubular sleeve (310) and a core rod (320) wherein ends (310a, 320a) of the tubular sleeve (310) and the core rod (320) are arranged with a radial offset forming a sleeve opening for receiving at the end portion of the second conductor end of the second conductor.

  • Publication number: 20220013928
Abstract: A cable assembly (100) is provided having a first cable (20) having a first conductor (22), a second cable (40) having a second conductor (42) and an electrically conducting joining element (60). The joining element (60) comprises a first threaded end section (61) and a second threaded end section (62) opposite of the first end section (61. The first threaded end section (61) is connected to the first conductor (22). The second threaded end section (62) is connected to the second conductor (42). The present invention also relates to a method for joining a first cable (20) having a first conductor (22) and a second cable (40) having a second conductor (42).
