  • Publication number: 20200337221
Abstract: A row unit of an agricultural seeding implement has a hoe opener assembly that may engage soil to form a trench in the soil and to deposit one or more agricultural products in the trench. The hoe opener assembly has a base structure having a mount and a nose removeably coupled to the base structure. The nose may form the trench in the soil. The hoe opener assembly also has a double shoot attachment removeably coupled to the mount. The double shoot attachment may separately deposit the fertilizer and the seeds into the trench. The hoe opener assembly also has a first conduit that may deliver the fertilizer to the double shoot attachment and a second conduit that may deliver the seeds to the double shoot attachment.

  • Patent number: 7464767
Abstract: A disc opener assembly for an agricultural planter includes a coulter disc formed without a pilot hole for the spindle of the mounting hub. The mounting hub is formed without the spindle such that the coulter disc is supported directly in a cantilevered manner from the mounting flange of the mounting hub. The coulter disc is formed with fastener holes aligned with mounting holes in the mounting flange for the passage of fasteners to affix the coulter disc to the mounting flange. The fasteners are countersunk into the coulter disc to present a smooth exterior surface. A seal is positioned between the mounting flange and the coulter disc to prevent the entry of dirt and debris into the mounting hub. No dust cap on the exterior surface of the coulter disc is required with this configuration which improves the operation of the disc opener assembly.

  • Publication number: 20060218910
Abstract: A hydraulic system is provided for an air cart towed by a tow vehicle across a field. The hydraulic system includes a first selector valve configured to selectively communicate a first flow rate regulated by a first control valve to drive a hydraulic-driven auger mechanism at the air cart. The hydraulic system also includes a second selector valve control configured to selectively communicate a second flow rate regulated by a second control valve to drive a hydraulic-driven pressure source at the air cart. The first and second selector valves and first and second control valves are located at the tow vehicle, and are connected via a common hydraulic line to a main selector valve located at the air cart. The main selector valve is connected to selectively communicate the first hydraulic fluid flow rate to a pressure source and the second hydraulic fluid flow rate to the hydraulic-driven auger mechanism.

  • Patent number: 6666156
Abstract: A seed flap for a disc opener associates with an air seeder operable to place seed and fertilizer into a furrow formed in the ground by the disc opener. The seed flap is formed from a non-flexible material, such as an abrasion resistant steel, and pivotally mounted to the seed tube to permit the seed flap to trail behind the seed tube and control the placement of seeds and/or fertilizer discharged from the seed tube. The pivotal mounting of the seed flap will provide movement of the seed flap relative to the seed tube to permit the seed flap to more consistently align with the bottom of the furrow and better follow the furrow bottom created by the disc opener while the disc opener is moving through a turn. A spring mechanism operably coupled to the seed flap will provide a positive force for firming the placement of the seed into the soil. A retention device, such as a clip, will be operable to hold the seed flap in an elevated, inoperable position as desired by the operator.
