Abstract: Systems, methods, and storage media are disclosed. Quantitative and qualitative market data from a marketplace indicating consumer interest or demand in book-products are received. Quantitative and qualitative data characteristic data relating to characteristics of existing book-products in the marketplace are received. A formula based on the market data and the characteristic data, is applied to define an opportunity space for at least one potential new book-products. the results of the application of the formula are store the at least one formula in a database; and create a book product based on the formula.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for classifying a collection of digital documents based on ideological bias of authors. At least a portion of text of a digital document is received and parsed. Pairs of specific features text having specified relationships are detected. The pairs are then mapped to an ideological bias, based on an ideological bias ontology for example. Various actions can be taken on the digital documents based on the determined ideological bias.

Abstract: A system and method for automatically generating a naturally reading narrative product summary including assertions about a selected product. The method includes the steps of determining an attribute associated with the selected product, retrieving an assertion model defining forms in which an assertion can be manifested to describe the product in a natural manner, and generating a naturally reading narrative by combining the attribute with the retrieved assertion model. A product summary generator comprises a product attribute module adapted to determine an attribute, an assertion model module adapted to retrieve an assertion model, and a summary generation module adapted to generate a naturally reading narrative by combining the attribute with the retrieved assertion model. A computer readable medium for automatically generating a naturally reading narrative product summary including assertions about a selected product is also provided.

In one embodiment, the opinion analyzer system includes a processor, a parser module, an prose analyzer module, a characteristic features database, and a language value rules database. In another embodiment, the method comprises the steps of parsing language of a portion of a user review, extracting characteristic feature from the user review, determining a quality parameter based on the extracted characteristic feature, determining a raw score based on the quality parameter, and determining quality of the user review based on the raw score.

Abstract: An automated and highly scalable system and method optimizes the selection of allied products in association with a main product. Initially, a plurality of allied products is identified. Each allied product is categorized to determine attributes by which the allied products are evaluated. Each allied product is rated to create a ranked list of allied products. Content, such as textual information, corresponding to each of the allied products is automatically generated using assertion models. Highly customized optimization rules are then applied to refine the ranked list and select optimal allied products. In one application, the optimization rules may be based on business requirements and the selected allied products are cross-sold with the main product on an online retail web site.

Abstract: A search system for searching for electronic documents, and providing a search result in response to a search query is provided. The search system includes a processor, a user interface module adapted to receive a search query from a user, the search query having at least one search query term, and a query processing module that analyzes the search query term to identify candidate synonym words. The query processing module also determines which of the candidate synonym words are equivalent terms to the search query term, and in a same sense as the search query term. In addition, the search system includes a search engine that executes a search based on the search query term and the equivalent terms.

Abstract: A system and method for semantic search for electronic documents stored on a computer readable media, and providing a search result in response to a query. The system includes a corpus including a plurality of electronic documents that are domain tagged at a document level and analyzed based on the tags to identify word usage patterns. An index of word usage patterns is provided that indexes the plurality of documents in the corpus according to their word usage patterns. The system also includes a query pre-processing module that receives a query from a user, and analyzes the query to determine probable word usage patterns in the query. The system further includes a processor that uses the index to identify documents having word usage patterns that matches the probable word usage patterns in the query as a candidate electronic document, and retrieves the candidate electronic document.
