  • Publication number: 20210038848
Abstract: Patient interfaces having an oral portion and a nasal portion and additional features of a seal-forming structure and a shell are described. Various embodiments of a seal-forming structure are contemplated that comprise arrangements having areas with a higher resistance to deformation at laterally spaced portions of either the nasal portion or of the oral portion. Another seal forming structure comprises a bridge portion that can be deformed to accommodate different patient nose lengths. Yet another seal-forming structure comprises different surface finishes on the nasal portion and the oral portion.

  • Patent number: 10898668
Abstract: A manufactured component, such as headgear or a headgear strap, for a patient interface for delivery of a supply of pressurised air or breathable gas to an entrance of a patient's airways may include a textile portion having a first material with a first melting point. It may also include a plastic portion over-moulded to the textile portion. The plastic portion may be formed of a second material having a second melting point. The melting points may be different such that the second melting point is chosen to be less than the first melting point of the first material. The component may be moulded in a multi-step process that moulds separate portions of the plastic portion and the textile portion at different times. The resulting plastic portion may then have a mechanical bond with the textile and may do so without significant chemical bonding between the plastic portion and the textile.

  • Publication number: 20200353189
Abstract: A gas washout vent for a patient interface may be configured to allow a flow of patient exhaled gas to an exterior of the patient interface to minimise rebreathing of exhaled gas by the patient and the vent may include: a plurality of vent passages extending between a first and a second side of the vent, each vent passage may include: a plurality of first openings extending from the first side towards the second side, said first openings being uniform in size and shape; a plurality of second openings extending from the second side towards the first side, said second openings being uniform in size and shape; and wherein the first openings and the second openings partially overlap each other at an interface to form constricted passages therebetween.

  • Publication number: 20190224436
Abstract: A patient interface may include a plenum chamber pressurisable to a therapeutic pressure; a seal-forming structure constructed and arranged to form a seal with a region of the patient's face; a positioning and stabilising structure to provide an elastic force to hold the seal-forming structure on the patient's head, the positioning and stabilising structure may include a tie; a vent structure; a decoupling structure configured to provide a fluid connection between the plenum chamber and an air circuit for the flow of air at the therapeutic pressure for breathing by the patient; and a frame having at least one tie attachment structure to receive the tie, wherein the frame is configured to be resiliently movable in any direction having at least one of a component parallel to the patient's sagittal plane, a component parallel to the patient's coronal plane, a component parallel to the patient's Frankfort horizontal plane.
