  • Patent number: 5991803
Abstract: A service creation environment (SCE) generates generic service creation information defining a certain service. The generic service creation information is then processed by a service execution agent for mapping onto service creation information that is specific to the service logic execution environment (SLEE) of a service control point (SCP) upon which the service is to be executed and provided. This SLEE specific service creation information is then down-loaded to the service logic execution environment, and converted in a conventional manner to service execution related information. The generic service creation information comprises only a certain limited number of primitives (instructions or commands) operating on a certain limited number of service independent building blocks (SIBs).

  • Patent number: 5870565
Abstract: A telecommunications management network (TMN) is directly connected for operation and maintenance data message exchange to a common channel signaling network. The direct connection to the telecommunications management network is made through a gateway one of a plurality of signal transfer points included within the telecommunications network. Addressing and format conversions are effectuated between the transmission control protocol/internet protocol (TCP/IP) used for the telecommunications management network operation and maintenance messages and the common channel signaling--signaling system no. 7 messages. The telecommunications management network and each of the network element nodes are accordingly assigned both an internet protocol address and a signaling system no. 7 (SS7) address. Static tables maintained in certain ones of the signal transfer points map internet protocol addresses and signaling system no. 7 (SS7) address against each other for message routing.

  • Patent number: 5771275
Abstract: An integrated services digital network (ISDN) connection is maintained between a wireless office environment type private cellular telephone system and a public access cellular telephone system. In particular, an mB+D ISDN connection (where m=2, 23 or 30) is maintained between the ISDN network and each of a wireless office environment mobile switching center (WOE-MSC), a public land mobile network mobile switching center (PLMN-MSC) and a home location register (PLNN-HLR). A protocol converter is provided in each of these nodes to convert between the Transaction Capabilities Application Part (TCAP) message Signaling Connection Control Part (SCCP) supported signaling system no. 7 (SS7) message formats and the ISDN format. During registration, call delivery and hand off, an ISDN call communication is established between the wireless office environment type private cellular telephone system and the public access cellular telephone system. The SS7 messages are then exchanged between the systems over the D channel.

  • Patent number: 5638357
Abstract: There is disclosed a method for scheduling verification tests to audit routing information in a packet switching network comprising a plurality of packet switching nodes and a plurality of bi-directional links each interconnecting a distinct pair of said nodes. The method begins with the steps of selecting a test time duration period for scheduling the verification tests of the routing information in the network and selecting a number of nodes to be tested.

  • Patent number: 5583848
Abstract: There is disclosed a method for auditing routing information in a packet switching network. One method involves utilizing the telecommunications management network to sample through a general purpose management interface routing table information at live nodes in the operating network for a test message sent from a test initiator node to a final destination node through intermediate nodes. The telecommunications management network subsequently runs verification tests on the collected routing table information apart from the packet switching network. This method has the advantage that the verification test is not run on the network while still testing actual table routing information. Advantageously, this method tests actual routing information without overloading the network with additional routing requests provided by the test. Moreover, this method does not induce any load on the network. Further, this method uses data collected in real time from the network.

  • Patent number: 5553058
Abstract: There is disclosed a method for scheduling verification tests to audit routing information in a packet switching network comprising a plurality of packet switching nodes and a plurality of bi-directional links each interconnecting a distinct pair of said nodes. The method involves the operation system of the telecommunications management network selecting when to schedule verification tests of routing tables in the network. The operation system selects a test time duration period for scheduling all the verification tests to be run on the network. The operation system further selects the number of nodes to be tested and determines sub-tests to all destination nodes frown each node in the network to be tested. The operation system then selects a time test interval based or the quotient of the scheduled test time duration period and the total number of tests to be conducted.

  • Patent number: 5544154
Abstract: There is disclosed a method for determining the load to be induced on a network by running a routing verification test on the network. The method involves utilizing the telecommunications management network to sample through a general purpose management interface routing table information at live nodes in the operating network. The telecommunications management network subsequently determines the message tree between an operator selected source node and destination node and determines from this tree the number of transmitted, acknowledged and received messages that would be generated by conducting a routing verification test on the network. This method has the advantage that the operator is informed before running a verification test of the load that test will induce on the network. Thus the operator can run the test at his discretion to ensure that overload conditions are not experienced by running the test.
