  • Patent number: 9090829
Abstract: An apparatus for controlled blowing of asphalt comprises a stator block, a rotor, a motor, a gap, a gas conduit, and a porous plug. The rotor resides within a cylindrical interior chamber of the stator block. When engaged, the motor causes the rotor to rotate about the longitudinal axis of the rotor. A porous plug is within a gas conduit at an opening into the interior chamber of the stator block. The porous plug allows the gas to pass from the gas conduit into the gap as tiny bubbles. In this way, the asphalt continuously enters the apparatus at the inlet end of the interior chamber, passes through a gap between the interior chamber and the rotor where gas is blown through the porous plug and into the asphalt while the motor rotates the rotor, and exits the apparatus at the outlet end of the interior chamber as blown asphalt.

  • Patent number: 4715300
Abstract: A method of disposing of acid-dissolvable materials (e.g., rags) which, optionally, are impregnated with a waste material (e.g., solvents, oils, paints, and the like) is described. The first step of the procedure involves the dissolving of the acid-dissolvable materials in a strong mineral acid to form an acid solution comprising the dissolved material, and, optionally, waste which has been impregnated thereon. This acid solution is then fed to the incinerator for incineration, preferably to the incinerator of an acid regeneration plant.

  • Patent number: 4631068
Abstract: There is disclosed a process for the removal of sulfur from an aqueous sulfur-containing suspension through sulfur coalescence. Sulfur coalescence is initiated by passing the aqueous sulfur-containing suspension through a multi-passage filtering media. In one embodiment of the present invention, the aqueous sulfur-containing suspension is passed through a filtering media comprised of randomly oriented fibrous filter material. In another embodiment of the present invention, the aqueous sulfur containing suspension is passed through sintered metal filters. Optionally, downstream polishing, or filtration, steps using either the above enumerated filters or combinations of the above filters can also be used.
