  • Patent number: 11846098
Abstract: A reflective particulate material includes a particulate substrate having high total solar reflectance, bulk and apparent densities and toughness, and a low dust index. The reflective particulate can have a total solar reflectance of 80% to 87%, a toughness of 1% or fewer fines, an apparent density of 2.75 g/cm3 or greater, and a dust index of 1 or lower. A method of manufacturing the reflective particulate material includes preparing a slurry of the particulate substrate, spray drying the slurry to form a spray dried particulate, crushing the spray dried particulate to form a crushed particulate, and heating/calcining the crushed particulate. The heated, crushed particulate may further be coated to form a coated roofing granule.

  • Patent number: 11344127
Abstract: A cushion for an ice chest with integrated solar panels designed to be used as an auxiliary power source. The cushion includes a first solar module, a second solar module, a cushion par, and an attachment mechanism. The first solar module and the second solar module each include a structural panel and a plurality of solar cells. The solar cells are distributed about a first surface of the structural panel. The first solar module and the second solar module are laterally and hingedly attached to each other to allow for a closed and open configuration. The cushion pad is adjacently connected to the structural panel of the second solar module, opposite the solar cells of the second solar module, to act as a seat. The attachment mechanism is adjacently mounted to the structural panel of the first solar module for attachment to a lid of the ice chest.

  • Patent number: 11119124
Abstract: A non-contact voltage and ground detector allows a user to easily analyze the ground or neutral port of an electrical component. The detector includes a tubular body, a metal probe, a power source, a ground-and-neutral detector mechanism, and a non-contact voltage device. The metal probe is concentrically and terminally mounted to the tubular body and acts as the physical engaging element. The power source provides the electrical energy for the detector and is mounted within the tubular body. The ground-and-neutral detector mechanism in conjunction with the metal probe set up an open circuit. The ground-and-neutral detector registers the quality of a ground or neutral when the metal probe with an external electrical element. The non-contact voltage device measures changes in magnetic fields about an electrical component to identify the presence of voltage within the electrical component.

The composition may have a solar reflectance of 70% or greater. The pigment may include a clay, and the hydrophobic coating may include a (meth)acrylic polymer, a coupling agent, a wax and an antioxidant. A method of making the composition may include mixing the pigment, the inorganic binder, a dispersant and water to form a pigment mixture, adding the particulate substrate to the pigment mixture, heat treating the pigmented particulate, and mixing the pigmented particulate with a hydrophobic coating composition. Alternatively, the method may include first mixing the particulate substrate with one of the inorganic binder or the pigment, and then mixing the resulting composition with the other of the inorganic binder and the pigment, and heat treating the pigmented particulate.
