    Abstract: A method for adapting a control system governing the swing of an actuator arm to the actual deceleration capacity of an attached servomechanism, comprising: maximally accelerating the actuator arm; measuring the actual acceleration; calculating the ratio between the actual acceleration and nominal acceleration; multiplying an actual distance parameter by the ratio before indexing into a velocity profile to retrieve a target velocity; and multiplying a feedforward signal by the ratio prior to feeding it into a control loop.
