  • Patent number: 7007273
Abstract: A method, system and computer program product for creating a preload. A preload may be stored onto a computer system prior to the computer system being manufactured. One or more attributes of an object of a preload may be defined. Each preload object may be an aggregation of one or more software element objects. A comparison may be made between the attributes in each software element object with the one or more attributes in the defined preload object. Upon identifying one or more software element objects whose attributes comprise the one or more attributes of the defined preload object, one or more part numbers associated with the one or more identified software element objects may be transmitted to a manufacturing system. Software associated with the identified one or more software element objects may be retrieved and installed onto a preload associated with the defined preload object.

  • Patent number: 6989766
Abstract: Traffic signal data is broadcast, for receipt by vehicles traversing the roadways controlled by the traffic signals. If desired, traffic lights are provided with the capability to broadcast their location, status, changing cycles and timing data continuously. A receiving system in a vehicle is configured to receive the traffic signal data and display, to a user of the vehicle, visual display information and/or audible information informing the user of a speed range which, if followed, optimizes the use of the highway and minimizes the number of starts and stops that must be made.

  • Publication number: 20040226009
Abstract: A system and method is provided for abstracting the installation parameters used by tools from reference files written for a particular tool. The generic parameters file can be altered without affecting individual tool reference files. The generic installation parameters file includes parameter data for one or more software installations. Tool reference files are written for each supported tool. These files define the name of the executable that corresponds with the tool as well as the parameter syntax for passing passwords, target locations, input file names, and the like to the defined executable. The extraction tool reference files can also include parameters indicating whether a particular parameter is required, optional, or a constant, and whether a particular parameter can be iteratively received.

  • Patent number: 6813632
Abstract: Storage capability otherwise going underutilized in a LAN is made available for sharing among workstations connected to the LAN. Systems connected to a LAN are surveyed for storage capability potentially available for sharing, a weighting function is derived for each system which is indicative of shared system storage capability, and data files to be stored are scattered among and gathered from the connected systems.

  • Publication number: 20040122793
Abstract: A method and system is disclosed for configuring hardfiles of a computer system during original installation on a manufacturing line, reinstallation of the system, or any time a hardfile requires configuration. The method for configuring a hardfile for a computing system includes the steps of: a) abstracting drive configuration parameters into one or more text instructions using a standard generalized markup language; b) creating a model of a virtual hardfile in a memory from the one or more text instructions; and c) generating one or more physical drive configuration scripts to recreate the model in the hardfile.

  • Patent number: 6356925
Abstract: A method and system for obtaining a check digit to identify a given numeric sequence of n digits and to verify the accuracy of subsequent entries of the numeric sequence. First, a numeric sequence of n digits is distributed among elements of at least two matrices. Next, the matrices are multiplied together, thereby obtaining a resultant matrix having m elements. Finally, a check digit is derived from the m elements of the resultant matrix, which may be utilized to identify the numeric sequence and verify the accuracy of subsequent entries of the numeric sequence.
