  • Patent number: 5373274
Abstract: A deflection yoke for use with cathode ray tubes of the type in which one or more electron beams generated therein are deflected includes a magnetic core member and a selected wire winding thereon to produce a magnetic field for deflecting the beam. Each core has a winding axis defined thereon and each winding occurs along at least one segment having a given length along the winding axis. Each segment has a first end and an opposed second end and a middle portion defined therebetween. The winding pattern of each winding in accordance with the invention begins in the central portion of each segment and includes a first toroidal winding portion starting at this midpoint and extending in a first handed direction to a first segment end. The winding pattern includes an intermediate transition portion which extends from the first segment end to the second segment end. The winding pattern continues with a second toroidal winding portion extending from the second segment and to the middle starting point.

  • Patent number: 4766343
Abstract: A static convergence assembly includes a collar adapted to encircle the neck of a cathode ray tube (CRT). A number of extensions project radially outwardly from the collar along selected radii of the CRT neck and individually carry elongate stems mounted for longitudinal and rotational movement therealong. A permanent magnet, carried at the end of each stem nearest the CRT neck, develops a beam deflecting magnetic field within the CRT. The rotational and longitudinal position of each stem can be adjusted to adjust the orientation and strength of each magnetic field to alter the deflection of each beam as required to achieve static convergence.

  • Patent number: 4754248
Abstract: A deflection yoke for deflecting an electron beam generated in a cathode-ray tube includes a frusto-conical ferrite core. A pair of windings, each comprising a plurality of turns toroidally wound on the core, produce a magnetic field for deflecting the electron beam when current is passed through the windings. The ferrite core includes a plurality of notches formed in its edge which receive respective ones of the windings to accurately fix the location of the windings with respect to the core. Providing notches directly in the core avoids the need for additional external members for positioning the windings, and improves performance by reducing ringing.
