    Abstract: A light blocking device for an optical transmitter includes a flap (46) that is movable to a first position in which light is allowed to pass unhindered from a laser (18), and is movable to a second position to block the light emitted from the laser. The light blocking device further includes a panel member (48) connectable to a housing (10) of the optical transmitter. The flap (46) is connected to an edge of the panel member (48).
