    Abstract: An internal combustion engine with an adjustable device for restricting air flow to the cylinders at low engine speed and for imparting vortex flow of air through the inlet valve ports to promote smooth running. In a multi-cylinder engine, a bleed flow of air will be able to take place between a closed inlet valve port and an open inlet valve port to maintain the vortex flow of air.
