Publication number: 20230075955Abstract: A wellbore slip assembly includes a core and a helical slip. The core has an upper end, a lower end, an outer diameter tapering towards the lower end and a ratchet thread on the outer diameter. The helical slip has a base end, a top end, a substantially cylindrical outer surface, a bore with an inner diameter that tapers from the top end toward the base end, a ratcheted surface in the bore and a spiral cut extending from the top end between the outer surface and the bore. A method for installing a slip assembly in a structure includes running the slip assembly into place, and setting the slip assembly by holding the helical slip against axial movement and wedging a core of the slip assembly into a bore of the helical slip to radially enlarge the core and close the spiral cut.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 15, 2021Publication date: March 9, 2023Inventor: Rodney SCHNELL

Patent number: 8272447Abstract: A borehole network including first and second end surface locations and at least one intermediate surface location interconnected by a subterranean path, and a method for connecting a subterranean path between a first borehole including a directional section and a second borehole including a directional section. A directional drilling component is drilled in at least one of the directional sections to obtain a required proximity between the first and second boreholes. An intersecting component is drilled, utilizing magnetic ranging techniques, from one directional section to provide a borehole intersection between the first and second boreholes, thereby connecting the subterranean path.Type: GrantFiled: December 15, 2011Date of Patent: September 25, 2012Assignee: Halliburton Energy Services, Inc.Inventors: Dean Lee, Richard Thomas Hay, Nestor Humberto Gil, Kyler Tebbutt, Rodney A. Schnell, Joe E. Hess, Tracy Lorne Grills, Barry Gerard Ryan

Publication number: 20060028321Abstract: An improvement in a tool of the type which is adapted for connection into a drilling string, which tool is adapted to perform a function in the drilling string as a first function. The improvement is a magnetic field source incorporated with the tool so that the tool is adapted to perform a magnetic field source carrying function as a second function. The first function is unrelated directly to the second function.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 20, 2005Publication date: February 9, 2006Applicant: Halliburton Energy Services, Inc.Inventors: Timothy Kennedy, Rodney Schnell, Bryan Vandal
