  • Patent number: 5109979
Abstract: A method of manufacturing a moulded container (1) having an applicator handle (6) associated with it comprises moulding as a one piece unit the container (1) an applicator handle (6) and a frangible moulded connection (8) directly between the container (1) and the applicator handle (6).
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 19, 1991
Date of Patent: May 5, 1992
    Assignee: Innovation Services Limited
    Inventor: Rodney D. Cole
  • Patent number: 4964429
Abstract: A cosmetics applicator has a handle and a stem projecting from the handle. A multiplicity of elements project laterally from the stem. Some of the elements are relatively flexible bristles, for retaining mascara in the interstices between the bristles, and others of the elements are relatively stiff teeth for providing a combing effect upon application.

  • Patent number: 4886080
Abstract: A cosmetics package according to the invention includes a container for a liquid, semi-liquid, paste-like or viscous cosmetics material, e.g. mascara, and a plurality of material applicators detachably secured to the container and having elongate portions projecting into the container. There is a plurality of openings into the container, each opening being defined by a projecting neck onto which a closure cap portion of a respective applicator can be detachably secured, e.g. by screw-fitting. The elongate portion of each applicator comprises a shaft attached at one end to the closure cap and having at its other end a material-retaining/applicating portion. The interior of the container may be sub-divided into mutually separate spaces for containing different cosmetics material, each opening providing access into a respective one of said spaces.

  • Patent number: 4810122
Abstract: A cosmetic container and applicator assembly is provided wherein the applicator head and a wiper within the container both have non-circular configurations such that the wiping effect achieved by the wiper can be varied by altering the rotational position of the applicator relative to the wiper.

  • Patent number: 4802797
Abstract: A material applicator for use with cosmetic materials is constructed of an elongated applicator, a container for the material to be applied by the applicator and a wiper unit. The wiper unit includes a wiping orifice for wiping a material-retaining portion of the applicator as it is withdrawn from the container so as to limit the amount of material retained thereon. A cleaning member is provided which projects inwardly relative to the orifice and penetrates an inner part of the material-retaining portion to aid the removal of material from the inner part.

  • Patent number: 4598723
Abstract: The invention concerns an applicator for pasty, liquid or semi-liquid cosmetics materials such as mascara. Known applicators, in which an elongate applicator member formed integrally with a closure for a container of the material, may comprise a twisted wire brush carried at the end of a support shaft, have the disadvantage that the geometry of the brush is fixed. Thus a brush ideal for one type of application will be generally unsuitable for another. Other known applicators having fine end bristles suffer the problem that the bristles become damaged upon insertion through a narrow wiper opening of the material container. The arrangement of the invention avoids these problems by providing a cover for the material retaining part of the elongate member, relative movement between this cover and elongate member being permitted to provide selective and/or adjustable covering of the material retaining part. Thus, the amount of this part which is exposed for use can be varied.
