A decoder is configured to progressively decode each encoded image data portion to generate a respective image data portion and write each image data portion to the display buffer to thereby progressively construct image data in the display buffer. A display controller is configured to cause the display to display an image based on image data stored in the display buffer so as to dynamically adjust a frame rate at which images are displayed.
