  • Patent number: 6835104
Abstract: A field convertible tap-off base for an electrical busway distribution fitting. The field convertible tap-off base includes an AC phase termination side and a field configurable side having first and second configurable electrical terminals. The AC phase termination side provides terminals for connecting three AC phase conductors of a busway electrical distribution system to any one of a number of load bases configured for electrical components such as circuit breakers, switches, fuses, lugs or other special functions. The first and second configurable terminals permit two additional busway electrical conductors to be used for neutral, high current capacity neutral, secondary ground, DC current or other special functions which might be defined in the busway electrical distribution system.

  • Patent number: 6577495
Abstract: A fuse base assembly for electrical fuses, including an electrical bus on which a load end fuse clip of the end-user's choice can be attached. The electrical bus is provided with means for attaching the selected load end fuse clip in a linearly adjustable manner such that the end user can adjust the spacing between the line and load end fuse clips as required for the desired fuse. The electrical bus is also provided with a load terminal attaching point such that wiring between the load device and the fuse is easily accomplished.

  • Patent number: 6176719
Abstract: The present invention provides a device for electrically connecting electrical conductors of two adjacent sections of a multi-phase electrical distribution system. The connecting device includes a generally cylindrical body enclosing two ground connectors, two outside insulators and two inside insulators intermediate the outside insulators. Each of the outside and inside insulators includes an equal number of semi-circular shaped electrical connectors which are arranged such that each electrical connector on one of the outside insulators has a corresponding electrical connector on one of the inside insulators thus forming a pocket. Each pocket receives one electrical conductor from each of the two adjacent sections of the electrical distribution system.

  • Patent number: 6022231
Abstract: A sectionalized electrical distribution feeder system for carrying electrical power from a source point to a use point or a distribution point. Each section of the distribution system includes a cylindrical enclosure capable of being easily cut with a handsaw. The enclosure also provides support and protection from physical damage to a plurality of electrical conductors that are disposed within the enclosure. The conductors are held firmly in place by a continuous electrically insulating support that snugly fits inside the enclosure. Each conductor can be easily cut with a metal cutting hand saw, and is enclosed in an electrically insulating sheath, a portion of which can be removed from a newly cut end to provide a contact surface. A joint connecting member is provided for electrically connecting the conductors of adjacent sections of the electrical distribution feeder system.

  • Patent number: 5399095
Abstract: A device for resolving axial and angular misalignments between electrical conductors of adjacent sections of a pre-bussed rigid conduit electrical feeder system. The variable phase positioning device includes a flexible housing with an end piece attached to each end. A number of flexible electrical conductors are enclosed within the housing. Each conductor is enclosed in an electrically insulating sheath. A substantially rigid terminal is fixedly attached to each end of each conductor. At each end of the housing the terminals are loosely captivated within a terminal support such that each terminal can rotate freely. The terminal supports are made from an electrically insulating material. A retaining sleeve is loosely received over each terminal support and attached to the end piece in a manner that permits the terminal supports to rotate freely within the retaining sleeve.

  • Patent number: 4340961
Abstract: The terminals in a distributed multi-port communications system are connected by a common communication channel such as found on a broadcast coaxial cable. The terminals communicate with one another during sequential poll cycles to fulfill low data rate requirements or during a burst cycle to fulfill high data rate requirements. Each poll cycle includes a number of time slots with at least one time slot assigned to each terminal during which it can transmit data to any other terminal or request for a burst cycle. The burst cycles are allotted to requesting terminals in accordance with a predetermined priority. During the burst cycle, whose length varies in time with respect to the poll cycle, data are transmitted at a high data rate.
