  • Publication number: 20240167695
Abstract: A configurable apparatus for vertical food roasting has a fixed centered anchor to support a removeable vertical pole or a removable vertical food skewer. Top section of vertical pole further supports interchangeable food hooks. When interchangeable food hooks are engaged, a variety of food items could be attached and cooked vertically above the surface of the configurable apparatus. Alternatively, when the removable vertical food skewer frame member is engaged, a removeable horizontal food grill could be installed onto the fixed centered anchor. Food items could be stacked in a vertical formation on the horizontal food grill and cooked in vertical fashion. High side wall of roasting apparatus catches all oil drips, and wide handles on either side of side wall allows for safe and stable movement and transfer of hot oil drips and roasted hot food items while they are engaged onto interchangeable food hook or vertical food skewer.

  • Publication number: 20230407422
Abstract: An improved direct smelting vessel comprising a smelt reduction vessel (SRV) and optionally a cyclone converter furnace (CCF). The SRV provides means for promoting metal mixing at a zone below a slag layer adjacent to a vessel wall of the direct smelting vessel. The means for promoting metal mixing may include a split-level refractory hearth with two refractory floor levels, a refractory hearth with one or more gas bubbling devices, and/or at least one pair of solids injection lances that provide alternating solids injection at any given time (or other means). The means for promoting the metal mixing reduces a stagnant region capable of supporting a semi-solid slag layer that restricts metal-slag heat transfer. The means for promoting the metal mixing maintains an effective temperature delta between tapped metal at a forehearth and metal at the vessel wall of no greater than 40° C.

  • Publication number: 20230332258
Abstract: A method for producing direct reduced iron (“DRI”) from iron ore and biomass is disclosed. The method includes heating a batch of iron ore and biomass in each oven chamber of a non-recovery batch oven by a combination (i) the thermal mass of a lining of the oven chamber and (ii) combustion of a fuel gas from at least one other oven chamber and at least partially reducing the iron ore and forming DRI. The method also includes discharging gases from the oven chamber through passageways in a wall and a floor of the oven chamber and further combusting combustible gases and transferring heat to the wall and the floor of the oven chamber as the gases move through the passageways. The method also includes discharging at least a portion of gases from the oven chamber, without passing the gases through passageways in the floor of the oven chamber, and using these gases as a fuel gas in subsequent combustion heating in other batch oven chambers when a first predetermined trigger point is reached.
