    Abstract: Methods and apparatus for vertical hanging plant container according to various aspects of the present invention comprise a container comprising a moisture impermeable reservoir and an air and moisture permeable zone. The reservoir may be disposed along a bottom section of the container to serve as a moisture storage region allowing moisture to be wicked upwards by the soil in the container. The air and moisture permeable zone may be located above the reservoir in at least one sidewall of the container and allow for the transfer of air and moisture between the soil and an exterior environment surrounding the container.

    Abstract: An energy production and pressurized exhaust gas storage system including two combustion chambers aligned in opposition to each other, each of the two combustion chambers having a reciprocating power piston. A compression chamber is situated between the two combustion chambers and it includes a reciprocating compression piston. A shaft connects all of the pistons together. A solvent tank is connected to the two combustion chambers to receive the exhaust gas carbon dioxide. The solvent is preferably water maintained at about 32 degrees Fahrenheit and with a pressure above the water surface of about 100 pounds per square inch. Upon combustion, a pressurized carbon dioxide storage chamber receives compressed carbon dioxide from the compression chamber. Check valves are used to enable inflow of carbon dioxide to the compression chamber from the solvent tank and outflow of pressurized carbon dioxide in the compression chamber to storage.

    Abstract: A low profile thin seam miner includes a main frame mounting a lower transverse axis rotary cutter and a parallel axis conveyor rearwardly of the lower cutter. The main frame also mounts a forward transverse axis rotary cutter somewhat above the lower cutter, the forward upper cutter being supported on a longitudinal boom pivoted to the main frame and being vertically swingable under influence of a single cylinder. The main frame and all of its parts is incrementally advanced into the seam by the alternating action of two horizontal longitudinal parallel axis cylinders connected between the main frame and a pair of floor-engaging plates. Two vertical axis jacks are connected between the two floor-engaging plates and two cooperating overhead roof plates, connected with the floor-engaging plates by separate toggle linkages.

    Abstract: A shaft is formed from ground level downwardly to a subterranean seam of coal or other solids following preliminary survey procedures to locate the seam and establish its dimensions. A passage is cut radially into the coal seam and away from the shaft near the bottom thereof while coal cuttings are removed and delivered to ground level. The seam is then cut on an arcuate path centered on said shaft along the entire length of the radial passage while coal cuttings continue to be removed and delivered through the shaft to ground level. The mining apparatus is modular and comprises plural mining modules to be placed in the coal seam by a placement and advancing unit which is lowered in the shaft. A rotational driving unit is subsequently lowered in the shaft to drive coupled mining modules in unison through the coal seam on said arcuate path.
