  • Patent number: 5384061
Abstract: Aqueous, thickened liquid or gel cleaning compositions displaying enhanced chemical and physical stability are provided. The compositions comprise a chlorine bleach ingredient, cross-linked polycarboxylate polymer, phytic acid, a theology stabilizing agent, and a buffering agent to maintain the pH of the composition above about 10. The phytic acid component is, preferably, substantially free of hypochlorite-reactive species. Preferred automatic dishwashing detergent compositions containing builder and optional surfactant and metalate, and displaying shear thinning behavior, are also disclosed.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 23, 1993
Date of Patent: January 24, 1995
Assignee: The Procter & Gamble Co.
    Inventor: Rodney M. Wise
  • Patent number: 5230823
Abstract: A light-duty liquid or gel dishwashing detergent composition containing an alkyl ethoxy carboxylate surfactant and little or no alcohol ethoxylate and soap by-product contaminants. The compositions exhibit good grease removal while manifesting mildness to the skin. A preferred type of dishwashing detergent composition is in the liquid form. High pH and magnesium ion containing versions of the compositions increase grease removal properties while maintaining mildness.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 9, 1991
Date of Patent: July 27, 1993
Assignee: The Procter & Gamble Company
Inventors: Rodney M. Wise, Thomas A. Cripe
  • Patent number: 5169552
Abstract: Liquid cleaning compositions displaying enhanced physical stability in the presence of bleach are provided, comprising a chlorine bleach ingredient, cross-linked polycarboxylate polymer, a rheology stabilizing agent, and a buffering agent to maintain the pH of the composition above about 10. Preferred liquid automatic dishwashing detergent compositions containing builder and optional surfactant and metalate, and displaying shear thinning behavior, are disclosed.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 29, 1991

  • Patent number: 4941988
Abstract: Disclosed are liquid automatic dishwashing detergent compositions having an optimized thickening system. The thickening system is based on a polyacrylate polymer thickener and an alkali metal silica colloid having dispersed therein an alkali metal aluminate.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 13, 1989
Date of Patent: July 17, 1990
Assignee: The Procter & Gamble Company
    Inventor: Rodney M. Wise
  • Patent number: 4933101
Abstract: Disclosed are liquid automatic dishwashing detergent compositions containing an insoluble inorganic zinc salt useful for inhibition of glassware corrosion in the dishwasher. These compositions are particularly desirable because use of them in the dishwasher does not result in precipitation of insolubles on the dishware or dishwasher parts.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 13, 1989
Date of Patent: June 12, 1990
Assignee: The Procter & Gamble Company
Inventors: William A. Cilley, Rodney M. Wise
  • Patent number: 4904359
Abstract: High sudsing liquid detergent compositions contain anionic surfactant and polymeric surfactant which contains ether linkages, the anionic surfactant forming stable complexes with the polymeric surfactant for improved grease handling.
    Type: Grant

  • Patent number: 4343713
Abstract: A composition which contains aluminosilicate detergency builder materials in an intimate mixture with an inorganic salt, a water-soluble or water-dispersable organic agglomerating compound having a melting point between 10.degree. C. and 100.degree. C., and a water soluble soap of a fatty acid.

  • Patent number: 4166039
Abstract: Improved granular detergent compositions comprising a nonionic surfactant are prepared by incorporating the nonionic surfactant with a kaolinite or bentonite clay, preferably at an elevated temperature. The choice of clay is dependent on builder type, kaolinite clays being used in non-phosphate detergent compositions, while bentonite clays are used in phosphate-containing formulations. Incorporation of these clays gives homogeneous detergent slurries and superior properties of the resulting spray-dried detergent granules.
