  • Publication number: 20210017772
Abstract: A lightweight and durable window well is composed of a long fiber reinforced thermoplastic (LFRT). The lightweight and durable window well has at least some fibers that are omnidirectional relative to the other fibers in the thermoplastic. Additionally, at least some fibers of the LFRT have a length greater than 40 mm. The window well also has a body having a plurality of ribs interposed between a plurality of wall surface portions. Additionally, each rib is positioned between two different wall surface portions and is defined by a variable height and a variable depth. Furthermore, the wall surface portions have a variable thickness that varies from a minimal thickness of less than 3 mm to a maximum thickness of greater than 5 mm, with the wall surface being thicker near the ribs than at portions furthest from the ribs in the wall surface.

  • Patent number: 9989182
Abstract: A method of forming a sealed joint between a tubular article (10) and a thin sheet article (14) wherein the articles (10, 14) are made of metallic materials that are capable of fusion welding together. One step in the method involves locating an end of the tubular article in a collar (20) surrounding a hole (12) formed in the thin sheet article (14). An end (22) of the tubular article (14) is positioned to lie substantially flush with a proximal end (24) of the collar (20). Next the ends (22, 24) of the collar and the tubular article are fusion welded forming a circumferential bead (26) creating an integral joint. Consequently in effect the previously separate a tubular article (10) and a thin sheet article (14) become a single piece.

  • Patent number: 7907266
Abstract: A radiometer the calibration of collimated pulsed laser sources. In one embodiment the laser sources have wavelengths of 1064 nm and 1540-1570 nm wavelengths at irradiance levels of 7×10?5 to 5×1010 Watts/cm2, with pulse widths of 5-400 ns. A lens system used to focus beams from the laser sources includes two piano convex lenses and one aspheric lens, all with 1.5 micron and 1.06 micron anti-reflection coatings. An InGaAs avalanche photodiode (APD) detector and a linear amplifier generate an output voltage which represents the pulse and power of the input laser. The output voltage is captured on a fast oscilloscope and converted to irradiance through NIST calibration factors. The detector is kept at a constant predetermined temperature with a heater ring and feedback circuit. The detector is mounted on a translation stage for placing the detector at the proper position for the 1064 nm and 1540-1570 nm wavelengths.

  • Patent number: 7706211
Abstract: A seismic velocity profile in a region of interest in a subsurface formation is determined using at least the following steps. (a) Activating a seismic source at a location n, thereby exciting a wave in the subsurface formation. (b) Recording a wave signal trace unm(t) against time t, at a seismic receiver m. (c) Recording a wave signal trace unk(t) against time t at a seismic receiver k. (d) Cross correlating the wave signal traces unm(t) and unk(t) to obtain uconvnmnk(t). (e) Repeating these steps, for different locations n; (f) Summing uconvnmnk(t) over all locations n, to obtain a signal trace uvsmk(t) which corresponds to the signal received by the seismic receiver k from the virtual source at the position of seismic receiver m; (g) Deriving the seismic velocity based on the time of first arrival of the wave in uvsmk(t) and the predetermined distance between the seismic receiver m and the seismic receiver k.
