    Abstract: The invention concerns a method for transferring computer files between a remote server (5) and a network of service appliances (10) such as public telephones, said files being used by said service appliances (10) for operating, the server (5) communicating with the service appliances (10) via a telecommunication network (2). The invention is characterised in that said files are first stored in the server (5), then transferred into a separate FTP server (4) from which they are downloaded by said service appliances (10), said service appliances having previously received instruction from said server (5) to proceed with the downloading of said files in said FTP server (4).
