  • Publication number: 20210346715
Abstract: Methods for treating acute respiratory distress syndrome are disclosed. Light energy is applied externally to a patient at or near targeted areas including the lungs, the vagus nerve, and spinous process to stimulate different neurological pathways and reduce inflammation. The wavelength of the applied light ranges from about 400-700 nm, and in a preferred embodiment uses two wavelengths, 405 nm and 635 nm. The applied light energy can be applied in pulses or as a constant wave. The light energy is applied at dosages that cause no detectable temperature rise of the treated tissue and no macroscopically visible changes in tissue structure. Preferably the power is 500 mW or less. The light can be emitted from the same light emitter or from multiple emitters and is preferably laser light.

  • Patent number: 8932338
Abstract: A noninvasive method of reducing fat from targeted regions of a patient's body by applying low-level laser energy externally through the skin of the patient to the targeted areas. Sufficient laser energy is applied to release at least a portion of intracellular fat into the interstitial space. The released intracellular fat is removed from the body through the body's natural functions. The preferred embodiment uses laser energy at about 635 nm.

  • Publication number: 20110087312
Abstract: Low-level laser therapy is applied externally through the skin of the patient to targeted areas of a of a patient's body to treat diabetes or prediabetes. A patient is first diagnosed with diabetes or prediabetes, preferably by blood draws that measure insulin, A1C, or glucose levels. A therapeutic amount of laser energy to apply is determined from a patient's biological factors such as body mass index. The therapeutic amount of laser energy is applied one or more times over a two week time period. The patient is then retested for diabetes or prediabetes. If necessary, a new therapeutic amount of laser energy is determined according to any changes in the patient's diabetes or prediabetes diagnosis and any changes in the patient's biological factors. Adjusted treatments with low-level laser energy continue until the diabetes or prediabetes diagnosis is removed.

  • Publication number: 20080125837
Abstract: A noninvasive method of reducing fat from targeted regions of a patient's body by applying low-level laser energy externally through the skin of the patient to the targeted areas and treating the patient with a catalyst to prevent the lasered fat cells from functioning normally. Sufficient laser energy is applied to release at least a portion of intracellular fat into the interstitial space and the preferred embodiment uses laser light at about 635 nm. The catalyst is any combination of sterile water and saline solution that kills the lasered fat cells or prevents recuperation of the lasered cells before they are removed from the body through the body's natural functions. Preferably the catalyst is a hypotonic solution.

  • Patent number: 6605079
Abstract: A lipoplasty method which includes applying laser energy to the adipose tissue externally through the skin at the same time suction is applied to the targeted tissue. The preferred method includes introducing a solution through an opening in the body to cause the solution to come into contact with adipocytes in the adipose tissue before or simultaneous with applying the laser energy. Optionally, the method can further include reducing inflammation by applying laser energy externally through the skin. Also optionally, the method can include reducing pain by applying laser energy externally through the skin.
