  • Patent number: 9468035
Abstract: A mobile device, or a server in communication with the mobile device, identifies a failure scenario for previously-failed radio resource control (RRC) connection re-establishment requests, from the mobile device, in a Long-Term Evolution (LTE) network. The mobile device, or server, monitors real-time context data for a match with the failure scenario and applies preemptive settings for an upcoming RRC connection re-establishment attempt in response to identifying a match with the failure scenario. The preemptive settings are configured to maintain an active session between the mobile device and the LTE network.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 21, 2014
Date of Patent: October 11, 2016
Assignee: VERIZON PATENT AND LICENSING INC.
Inventors: Sachin Vargantwar, Rodrigo Teliaken Rodelas
  • Patent number: 9408124
Abstract: A network gateway receives a voice over long term evolution (VoLTE) call establishment request from an internet protocol (IP) multimedia services (IMS) core network for a mobile device. The network gateway queries a serving gateway to determine whether the mobile device is transitioning from a first evolved node B (eNB) to a second eNB. If the mobile device is transitioning, based on the existence of a user plane modify request, the network gateway delays forwarding the received request to a mobility management entity until the serving gateway informs the network gateway that the serving gateway received a first data packet from the mobile device via the second eNB as an indication the transition is complete.

Date of Patent: August 2, 2016

Inventors: Sachin Vargantwar, Rodrigo Teliaken Rodelas
  • Patent number: 9307561
Abstract: An evolved node B receives a random access preamble from a mobile device and determines if utilization exceeds a threshold. Upon determining utilization exceeds the threshold, the eNodeB sends a random access response including a backoff indicator and a modified uplink grant indicating that the mobile device can override the backoff indicator if the connection request is part of a voice over long term evolution call.

Date of Patent: April 5, 2016
