    Abstract: A highlight server receives a highlight request from a client. The highlight request includes identification of media content and characteristics which a highlight stream is to be based on. The highlight server retrieves the media content identified in the highlight request. Based on the characteristics identified in the highlight request and characteristics associated with a user of the client and stored on the highlight server, the highlight server identifies a plurality of appropriate highlights from the retrieved media content. A highlight stream is generated from the plurality of appropriate highlights and transmitted to the client.
