Publication number: 20250141978Abstract: The techniques disclosed herein provide a synchronization engine that operates in conjunction with a service worker to dynamically store and update a working set of user data and single page application (SPA) resources from a network server to a user device. The working set can be hosted across several domains and identified by association with a user account. Accordingly, the synchronization engine retrieves the working set from the network server to enable offline execution of the single page applications. As such, subsequent requests for interacting with a single page application are then serviced by the synchronization engine using the working set retrieved from the network server. For instance, the service worker can bind user data to the application resources to enable progressive rendering through an application controller using locally available resources. In this way, the disclosed system provides a consistent user experience irrespective of network connectivity.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 25, 2023Publication date: May 1, 2025Inventors: Aninda RAY, Andrew James KOLTZ, Dennis Joel David MYREN, Naman KANAKIYA, Roger Allen LUEDER, Steven BAILEY, John FAN, Edgar HERNANDEZ GONZALEZ

Patent number: 9355115Abstract: One or more techniques and/or systems are disclosed for providing a client application with access to a file based upon a local offline version of the file and/or web online version of the file. That is, a file may be shared/synchronized from a remote source, such as a web storage service. A web online version of the file may be maintained by the web storage service, while local offline versions of the file may be stored at client devices. A sync module comprising knowledge of the local and/or web versions of the file may provide a client application with access to the file based upon the local and/or web version of the file. The sync module may also delegate synchronization authorization to the client application given that the client application may comprise sophisticated file handling functionality.Type: GrantFiled: November 21, 2011Date of Patent: May 31, 2016Assignee: Microsoft Technology Licensing, LLCInventors: Francisco Garcia-Ascanio, Joshua Adam Alpern Boehm, David Diffenbaugh, Daniel Vincent Fiordalis, Joseph Wiggs, Alyssa Irwin, Denise Elisabeth Signer, Adam Linkon, Allison O'Mahony, Mona Akmal, Roger Allen Lueder, Miko Arnab Sakhya Singha Bose, Balaji Balasubramanyan

Patent number: 8504933Abstract: A computer application program can comprise multiple overlapping states associated with functionality or components of the application program. Simultaneous output of all such states can be impractical. Representative states can be defined in terms of the statuses of individual states relevant to a particular representative state. Additionally, representative states can be ranked, where multiple representative states that share the same ranking can overlap with each other, but not with other representative states. To avoid transitioning between states too quickly, and presenting output for too short a time, hysteresis mechanisms can be applied in the form of a set delay, a reset delay or a combination thereof. The duration of the set and reset delay can be established independently of each other and independently for each state. The output can be in accordance with the representative state associated with the current statuses of individual states, accounting for selected hysteresis mechanisms.Type: GrantFiled: May 28, 2010Date of Patent: August 6, 2013Assignee: Microsoft CorporationInventors: Siddharth Mantri, Charles Robert Stoner, Roger Allen Lueder

Publication number: 20100199205Abstract: A user interface system and process for graphically displaying the results of a standard search, such as a database search, to a user on a display device via an interactive search results window in which the user views and filters search results items. These results can be presented in either a cluster or histogram format, or both. This allows the user to visualize the results graphically, rather than just displaying a list of the items found. In addition the presentation of the search results can be graphically manipulated to easily filter the results as desired by the user.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 12, 2010Publication date: August 5, 2010Applicant: Microsoft CorporationInventors: David James Gemmell, Roger Allen Lueder, Chester Gordon Bell
