Patent number: 8899860Abstract: A dispenser for stick material that is suitable for bottom filling comprises a barrel (2) having at one end a base (6) with a central hollow boss with integrally moulded mountings for a separately moulded spindle having at one end at least two opposed struts terminating in means to engage with the mountings in the boss. Preferably, the spindle snaps fits with the boss. Preferably, the spindle has two struts that align with spokes within a skeletal platform (30) that link a filling ring therein to its rim.Type: GrantFiled: December 18, 2009Date of Patent: December 2, 2014Assignee: Conopco Inc.Inventors: Roger Anthony Baines, Martin Christopher Bunce, Geoffrey Stephen Mawtus, Alex Sandor Szekely, Juraj Ulik

Patent number: 7674061Abstract: In cosmetic dispensers for fluids, such as for example deodorants or antiperspirants comprising a bottle, a flow regulator in a housing mounted on the bottle and a cap rotatably mounted on the bottle or particularly onto the flow regulator housing, there is a risk that the housing can part from the bottle or be moved out of alignment by fitting or removal of the cap. This problem can be ameliorated or eliminated by employing a plurality of sets of anti-rotation elements at or adjacent to the mouth of the bottle around its periphery, each set comprising a peg and a socket. Preferably, the housing is bifurcated inward of the flow regulator, one wall extending within the bottle and the other wall extending out side the wall, and desirably the bottle wall is of reduced wall thickness in the overlap so that the exterior of the bottle surface and housing surface can be flush at their line of contact.Type: GrantFiled: July 19, 2005Date of Patent: March 9, 2010Assignee: Conopco, Inc.Inventors: Roger Anthony Baines, Paul Haigh, Paul Nicholas Pay, Reginaldo Alexandre Tavares da Silva, Mark Geoffrey Somers

Patent number: 7618208Abstract: Conventional dispensers for a cosmetic fluid, such as a liquid, comprises a bottle having a housing for a low regulator, such as a roller or preferably a ball and a cap which is securable to the bottle by a single set of co-operating screw threads. An improved dispenser secures the cap to the bottle, and especially to the housing, by a plurality of sets of mounting elements, one of which comprises a cam providing axial movement of the cap when it is rotated around the bottle and the other a follower, such a lug and bayonet. One element is mounted on the interior of the cap and the other on the exterior of the bottle/housing. The mounting elements on the bottle/housing advantageously are separated both laterally around the periphery and axially so as to permit the mounting elements on the cap to pass axially between adjacent bottle elements and the cap to be rotated until matched sets of elements are brought into contact.Type: GrantFiled: July 19, 2005Date of Patent: November 17, 2009Assignee: Conopco, Inc.Inventors: Roger Anthony Baines, Paul Haigh, Paul Nicholas Pay, Mark Geoffrey Somers, Reginaldo Alexandre Tavares Da Silva

Patent number: 6598767Abstract: A dispensing package for a cosmetic stick comprising a barrel having a generally open end and a generally closed end, a central longitudinal axis which run between the generally open end and the generally closed end of the barel, a piston slidably located within the barrel for advancing product contained within the barrel towards the generally open end, the package having a cross-section perpendicular to the central longitudinal axis which is ellipsoidal, the generally open end of the package ending in an opening through which product contained in the dispenser can be dispensed, characterized in that the opening, when viewed in the direction of the minor axes of the ellipsoidal cross-section, is concave.Type: GrantFiled: December 13, 2000Date of Patent: July 29, 2003Assignee: Unilever Home & Personal Care USA division of Conopco Inc.Inventors: Roger Anthony Baines, Jonathan Justin Moore

Patent number: 6299369Abstract: A dispenser for a solid or soft solid mass has a barrel, a piston within the barrel, and a mechanism for advancing the piston axially within the barrel including a rotor wheel. A boss having an inwardly tapered profile (tear drop) and a sump dimensioned to receive the boss seats the rotor wheel at a predetermined angular position relative to the barrel. The boss is preferably formed on the rotor wheel and the sump in the base of the barrel. The dispenser is provided with a pair of bosses and sumps, symmetrically arranged around the rotor wheel and barrel base.Type: GrantFiled: October 6, 2000Date of Patent: October 9, 2001Assignee: Unilever Home & Personal Care USA, division of Conopco, Inc.Inventors: Roger Anthony Baines, Martin Christopher Bunce, Robert David James, Russell Jones
