  • Patent number: 4413563
Abstract: The electronic fuse for a projectile comprises a radar emitter (2) having a resonant cavity (1) and a directional antenna (3). The presence of foreign bodies in the radar beam produces a Doppler effect which is detected by a circuit (5). This circuit (5) controls the modulation of the radar beam by means of two VHF oscillators (F.sub.1, F.sub.2) and the influence of the foreign body upon the modulated radar signal is analysed by the circuit (5) to determine if the foreign body corresponds to the target of the projectile or whether they are foreign bodies located accidentally on the trajectory of the projectile, for example, birds, droplets or micro-droplets of water. When the circuit (5) detects a signal corresponding to a motionless body of large dimensions, or a land, water or snow surface, it causes the firing of the projectile at a predetermined distance from the object.

  • Patent number: 4327625
Abstract: A device for transmitting signals to a fuse (1), comprising a magnetic circuit and three non-magnetic circuits. The magnetic circuit comprises a coil (5) for transmitting an energy signal which will be recovered by a coil (3) inside the fuse. The three non-magnetic circuits comprise infrared emitter receiver cells mounted on supports (12, 13, 14) outside the fuse, and on supports (6, 7, 8) inside the fuse. These cells respectively co-operate for emitting and receiving information carrying signals, which are thus separate from the energy signal.

  • Patent number: 4300452
Abstract: A device for transmitting signals to a projectile fuse (1) by induction comprises a coil (5) for emitting an energy signal picked-up by a coil (3) inside the fuse. This coil (3) is wound on a first magnetic core (2). A second magnetic core (6) carries three receptive coils for information carrying signals. This information is emitted by three coils (19,20,21).This arrangement permits separating the transmission of the energy signals on the one hand and the information carriers on the other hand.

  • Patent number: 4144816
Abstract: A missile security mechanism comprises a sliding rod having two axially spaced-apart grooves, a socket slidably mounted on the rod and having hooks able to engage in one of these grooves then the other, and an inertia-block in the form of a sleeve surrounding and locking the hooks in the groove in which they are engaged. The inertia-block is displaceable by inertia against the action of a biasing spring to free the hooks. A second spring biases the rod towards the socket, the rod being held by a pawl which is movable to free the rod in response to a given displacement of the inertia-block.

  • Patent number: 4116133
Abstract: An electronic firing device of a missile, enabling precise setting of a time delay from several milliseconds up to an hour or more, comprises an energy accumulator formed by a capacitor associated with an energy receiving coil charging the capacitor from an external signal. This signal has a low frequency energy-supply component and a high frequency signal having a series of pulse trains defining a decimal number up to, for example, 10.sup.7. The high frequency signal passes via a coded selective filter supplying, to a memory, a coded value defining a time delay. An oscillator triggered by a security switch supplies clock signals which are divided to provide 1 millisecond pulses counted in a coding circuit in the same code as the memory. This coding circuit and the memory are connected to a comparator which supplies a firing signal when the count reaches the memorized value.

  • Patent number: 4087774
Abstract: An information transmitting system by means of a coded magnetic signal permitting adjusting the options in a fuze. A primary winding magnetically induces a coded current in a secondary winding located within a housing. A conductive short-circuit ring is located between both windings for concentrating the magnetic flux within the receiving winding, and thus reducing the magnetic losses.

  • Patent number: 4068592
Abstract: An electronic firing device for a pyrotechnic charge in a projectile comprises a programmable unijunction transistor controlled by the discharge of a firing capacitor to fire an electric fuse. An oscillator supplies a pulsed output signal via a charging circuit to intermittently charge the capacitor in steps. The oscillator output signal is also supplied as a clock signal to a delay device controlling conduction of the transistor to fire the fuse after a given delay following an impact.

  • Patent number: 4019439
Abstract: An electric firing device for a pyrotechnic charge in a projectile comprises a pulse generator, a pulse-activable firing control element, and means controlling the application of pulses to this element. Said means comprise an electromagnetic transducer including a primary winding receiving pulses from the generator, a secondary winding connected to said element and a ferromagnetic core coupling the windings. The core and windings are movable relative to one another, for example by mounting the windings in an inertia block, to vary the coupling and control firing upon impact.
