  • Patent number: 9790851
Abstract: An internal combustion engine has a multi-joint crank drive wherein the multi-joint crank driver includes a plurality of coupling members which are rotatably supported on crank pins of a crank shaft and a plurality of hinged connecting rods which are rotatably supported on crank pins of an eccentric shaft wherein each of the coupling members is pivotally connected to a piston connecting rod of a piston of the internal combustion engine and one of the articulation connecting rods. In order to enable to largely or completely compensate inertia forces, it is proposed according to the invention to equip the internal combustion engine with a single balance which serves for neutralizing second order inertia forces.

  • Patent number: 9593710
Abstract: Master and slave pullrods are disclosed in which a master pullrod is coupled to a journal of a crankshaft. The slave pullrod indirectly couples to the crankshaft by coupling to the master pullrod. Such a configuration allows two connecting rods to be coupled to the journal of the crankshaft inline with each other.

  • Publication number: 20150152758
Abstract: Two-stroke engines are particularly prone to piston scuffing due to insufficient oil at some operating conditions. A system and method to precisely deliver oil is disclosed. An oil reservoir groove is formed in the piston with an oil reservoir ring welded to the surface of the piston. A cavity behind the ring forms an oil reservoir. The ring has an inlet gap. The cylinder wall has an oil injector installed therein which sprays oil into the inlet gap when the inlet gap is proximate the oil injector tip. An electronic control unit commands the quantity of oil to provide to the oil reservoir, with the quantity and timing of the injections based on the operating conditions of the engine.

  • Publication number: 20090049951
Abstract: The invention relates to an assembled crankshaft composed of a plurality of crank cheeks which can be connected at one side to a main bearing journal and at the other side to a connecting rod bearing journal. The invention is based on the object of providing a crankshaft which is assembled from a plurality of individual parts, which is simple and quick to mount, which is characterized by a weight reduction and with which satisfactory lubrication of the bearing regions can be provided. According to the invention, the crank cheeks are provided at both sides with a ring-shaped groove for receiving the tubular main bearing journal and connecting rod bearing journal. In addition, the crank cheeks are provided with openings for a sleeve, which sleeves are in each case arranged within the main bearing journal and connecting rod bearing journal and are connected in a form-fitting and/or force-fitting manner to the crank cheeks.

  • Patent number: 6807930
Abstract: An actuating drive for valve drives having a variably adjustable stroke, for actuating valves of internal combustion engines is provided, which can be arranged in cylinder heads having usual dimensions, next to the valve activation mechanisms, in advantageous manner. The element that is changeable in its angle position is provided with a guide toggle coupled in fixed rotational manner, which is in engagement with an actuating shaft arranged adjacent to it, guided in the cylinder head in displaceable manner. This actuating slide has an actuating bridge in the region of the actuating path, with which contact surfaces of the actuating lever are engaged on one or both sides. The actuating slide is coupled with an actuating motor, which effects the axial actuating movements of the actuating slide counter to the forces introduced by the actuating lever.
