    Abstract: This invention provides mammalian GLEPP1 proteins, which are expressed primarily on glomerular podocytes. The invention also provides DNA sequences encoding mammalian GLEPP1 proteins and PTPase domains of mammalian GLEPP1 proteins. The invention further provides methods of detecting and treating a glomerular pathology characterized by abnormally low GLEPP1 expression or abnormal distribution of GLEPP1 protein on a cell.
